Story 2014-05-13 3KE WYSIWYG Editor

WYSIWYG Editor

by
in pipedot on (#3KE)
Not everyone is a web developer; and those that aren't sometimes forget the raw HTML syntax used to format comments. For these poor saps (and perhaps for lazy web developers as well) Pipecode now includes an optional WYSIWYG editor.

To use the editor, simply make sure that both the "Enable Javascript" and the "WYSIWYG Editor" checkboxes are enabled on your settings page.

Pretty nifty.

Is this a from scratch solution or are you borrowing code from somewhere else?

When I have it enabled (Chrome, Win7) I can't see the comment input field. I disabled WYSIWYG in the options and can see it again. Not sure what the problem was.

When replying to a post and using preview, it would be helpful to have the comment youre replying to still visible above it.

Rockin. Good on ya for adding this.

I do HTML every day[ish]. Doesnt mean I want to manually add tags in a comment.

Loads fast the second time, too (Score: 1)

I guess the editor is cached, because it took a second to load the first time, but appeared instantly afterwards on other posts. You know, ten years ago Id have said this is bloat, but increasingly I can no longer be bothered to do it the hard way. This is nice.

Nifty! This plus the limited Unicode support are a big deal and a killer combination. Thanks!

Nice addition, as it didn't break anything that I'm familiar with. (Namely being a non-JS luddite.)
