all non-hidden files/folders have disappeared in my home directory

sometime earlier today something happened where all my files and folders in my home directory are gone. The weird thing is every single hidden folder and dot file is still there.

I've combed through my bash history, nothing out of the ordinary, no accidental < rm -rf * > type command. I'm not sure what kind of mistaken mass delete command I could have executed to delete only the non-hidden files and folders in my home directory. Its a btrfs drive, I have a snapshot taken every time I install something using apt, unfortunately, I'm brain dead and have my home directory on a separate partition, so I wasn't getting snapshots of it.

I've ran testdisk/photorec on the drive, which pulled out a MASSIVE amount of junk files. 800+ folders with generic names and contents. I went through a lot of them with none containing any of my files and directories that are now gone.

I'm afraid to use btrfs restore on the partition because I don't want to make things worse or harder to recover. I'm baffled why only my visible files and folders would disappear and not the entire contents.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've done a ton of work in the past 24 hours.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=bwIfjrHrYZ0:TVYiu_s7JvQ:F7zBnMy latest?i=bwIfjrHrYZ0:TVYiu_s7JvQ:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=bwIfjrHrYZ0:TVYiu_s7JvQ:gIN9vFwbwIfjrHrYZ0
