Report: Peterson may play in preseason for 1st time since 2013
New Orleans Saints fans may get to see Adrian Peterson take the field sooner than expected.
While Peterson reportedly won't suit up Thursday against the Cleveland Browns, the 32-year-old running back is considering playing at some point this preseason, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.
That would be a significant change in Peterson's preparations, as he hasn't appeared in a preseason game since 2013.
"In a sense, I do (find myself more eager to play). Maybe I'm itching a little more this offseason," Peterson said, according Mike Triplett of ESPN.
Peterson is transitioning to a new offense after coming over from the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent the first 10 seasons of his career.
"It's more mentally, fully understanding the offense," Peterson said. "Because Drew Brees -- he's a general back there and he talks so fast when he calls plays. So that's more so what I mean, just locking that in. And that's the norm coming into a new system."
After a disappointing 2017 campaign that saw him appear in only three games due to injuries, Peterson will be hoping to rebound with the Saints in an attempt to prove he's still one of the league's most formidable backs.
