How to save the desktop in 19.04/Gnome?

I finally got 19.04 installed on the MSI laptop, every other distro seemed to have some kind of problem but this is the smoothest one.
Questions:
1) How do I save the desktop so upon a reboot, I get it called to be exactly the same?
2) One of my monitors, this NEC PA271W does not wake up from sleep while in Ubuntu. It works just fine in Windows 10 so there is nothing wrong with the monitor.
After it goes to sleep, none of the buttons work and the only way to get it wake up is to unplug the mini-display port from the machine.
