Operating System 'Start- Up' Curiosity.

:hattip:
My home built machine has Linux Mint 19.2 Tina 64-bit, Kernel Linux 4.15.0-65-generic x86_64, MATE 1.22.0 as the only on-board operating system; the CPU is an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ i- 2 and the RAM is only 3.9 GiB, the ATI Radeon X1900XTX, 512 MB GDDR3 takes care of the graphics. Yes it is a bit dated, but in 2007 my budget was somewhat limited, but this machine has performed remarkably well ever since it was built and the LM that I installed back in April this year, makes it perform like never before.
The only problem now is the ageing 'born again teenager' between the chair and keyboard, but I am more than happy with my new LM OS and I'm finding it a great source of inspiration to keep the 'grey matter' up to speed. Now talking about speed, is there anyone in here that may be able to help me shorten the time it takes for my LM to start up, particularly the black screen section between the single LM logo and the graphical Login screen. The 'Shut Down' process has an awesome speed of around 15 seconds! Is it expecting too much for the 'Start Up' to be a little closer to that, rather than the teasing 120 seconds? Thank you for bearing with me during this 'newbie' question, it's nerves you know :study:
