Bears claim Aguayo off waivers
The Chicago Bears have claimed kicker Roberto Aguayo off of waivers, the team announced Sunday, a day after the former second-round pick was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs cut ties with Aguayo following an underwhelming rookie season and a poor performance in Tampa Bay's first preseason game.
While Aguayo's first shot in the NFL was a resounding failure, he was arguably one of the greatest college kickers of all time, and should be able to compete with Connor Barth for the starting job.
Aguayo hit on just 71 percent of his attempts in 2016.
In a corresponding move, the Bears placed wide receiver Rueben Randle on injured reserve.
