Report: Broncos have discussed trades involving T.J. Ward
The Denver Broncos have discussed trades regarding Pro Bowl safety T.J. Ward, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
A second report states the Broncos are initiating the calls regarding Ward, not receiving, per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
Ward has one year remaining on his contract, carrying a $5.75-million cap hit. The 30-year-old has been a starter on the Broncos' top-ranked defense since joining the team in 2014 from the Cleveland Browns. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Second-year defensive back Justin Simmons started two games in Ward's place last season and would presumably take his spot in the first-team defense if the veteran was traded.
