Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson are all-purpose-yard monsters who have skill sets ideal for carrying a video-game offense, so it makes perfect sense that they stand alone as the best backs in the game.
While Ezekiel Elliott led the league in rushing last season, the elite talent of his offensive line has to be taken into account for his Madden rating. Elliott is certainly a special talent, but it's hard to argue DeMarco Murray or LeSean McCoy wouldn't have had the same results in Dallas last season.
Giovani Bernard's spot in the top nine may seem surprising after an injury-shortened season, but his elusiveness, agility, and ability as a receiver makes him an ideal Madden back, ready to break off a highlight-reel play at any time. LeGarrette Blount's absurd power and goal-line production make him just as highlight-worthy as Bernard but in a very different way.
