ASUS K570ZD-ES55 graphics and shutdown issues.
by Richard Cranium from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4RSFX)
Recently, I bought an ASUS K570ZD-ES55 from NewEgg. (You can see the specs at the link.)
I'm running Slackware64-Current on it; 14.2 didn't recognize everything. Even -current doesn't see everything; lspci doesn't show the AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics card as such, but it does show the NVIDIA GeForce GTX-1050.
Well, it would show the NVIDIA card if I didn't blacklist nouveau.
If I don't blacklist nouveau, starting X takes much longer; that's not that big of a deal. What is a big deal is that I cannot shut down the machine when both cards are available. Shutdown hangs indefinitely.
I'd like to be able to use the Radeon card normally but have the NVIDIA available for heavy duty 3D applications. I know that I haven't provided enough information above, so please ask for what would be needed to help me to get this system to work as it is supposed to do so.
TIA.
