No love for the Coleco Telstar Arcade?

No, probably not. I've never met anyone else who even knew what the damn thing was, much less had one (to be fair, until recently I couldn't remember the name of the thing either; I had to scour the Internet to find out what it was called). The consoles themselves contained very little circuitry; all the real work was done by chips embedded in the triangular cartridges.

I shouldn't be too down on the machine though; limited as it was, it made me look more seriously at personal computers instead.

No, but we had a Colecovision. My sibs played Smurfs endlessly, and I can still hear the chiptunes version of "'Tis a Gift to be Simple" echoing through my skull. The Donkey Kong theme was so much better.

Played Spacewar a few times one evening in the early 70's on the PDP-1 at MIT. A friend familiar with the system managed to load a DECtape and got it to run for us.

Best damn game controllers on the planet, and some pretty fun games too.

First console I ever saw played pong, and I have no idea what it was. This must have been like 1979 or so, hooked up to a TV set in America. Any ideas? The first console I ever started really spending scary amounts of time using though was an Atari. Good times. Frogger!

There were tons of pong clones. The controls were usually the most distinctive part, remember anything about them? Knobs, sliders, pucks, weird nub things?
