How can a game be "fantastic" when it isn't even finished? How do you evaluate that? Is this just riding on hype, or is this a Google style permanent beta?

You could try it... I would say it's fantastic. I dropped less than $20 on it and I've put more than 40 hours into launching rockets and attempting landings on planets and moons.

Anyone with an interest in space flight, orbital mechanics, science, etc. should definitely take a look at it.

Absolutely, without trying to sound fanboi-ish (?) I bought it 16 months ago for $17.00, version 0.18, after playing the 0.13 demo for OVER 100 HOURS! I have 816 hours as of today. Only the Civ, TW, several racing series and 'in real life' Chess (King of Games), and some of them I played for many years before Steam could remind you of how much spare time you apparently actually have. Steams hour tracking is to some an accomplishment, to me it's a condemnation.

The current demo limits you to 25 parts and I think is either version 0.18 or 0.19. It's come a long way since then!

Link to the Demo/purchase page. (No popups, self playing videos, redirects, tiresome political posturing or ads as far as I know, adblock on. So enjoy a stroll to a website without malware, in your face ads or other bullshit.

How is it spell check doesn't recognize the word malware? It's certainly common enough. It wants to change it to Waldemar. WTF?

I've put in around 100 hours over the course of the past few months...

Though I didn't REALLY get into it until career mode appeared and I had to try to accomplish goals with a restricted set of parts.

I maxed out the science tree and just this week finally got around to landing a Kerbal on Eeloo and getting them back home.

The challenges still remaining for me are landing and returning from every possible celestial body (such as Lathe and Eve), but assuming I'm able to complete them I don't see how I could put 800 hours in...

Maybe if there was some reason to construct space stations or surface bases... (or obviously interstellar travel)

How have you managed to put that much time in on the game? (Uh.. hope you get notified about this reply...)

Hehehehe, I managed to put that much time into it due to a back injury that has had me grounded for a little over a year now. I don't watch very much television.

I built a space station, mainly to practice orbital rendezvous, in preparation for launching an orbital built 'grand tour' ship.

The main propulsion and living quarters (acting as a makeshift station) are in orbit, but I need more testing on my atmospheric lander,(designed to be used on airless worlds afterward as it drops it heat shielding) and need to build a satellite (the ship carries four, so I'll just duplicate it).

Using LLL, NP, FAR, DR, TAC, KAS, Spherical tanks, and visual enhancements...
Hope you get notified of this reply as well, I just came back to lift the XKCD link above to the ADD panel.
