The public outcry in Barbados over a routine land acquisition has highlighted broad support for formal reparations from the descendants of slave holders. Under public pressure, the prime minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley has paused" government plans to seize - through eminent domain - 50 acres of a former slave plantation and compensate its owner Richard Drax, a British member of Parliament.
