Interesting.Macworld Magazine, the venerable journal that has covered Apple since 1984, is shutting its doors.Nobody cares. The Apple store crashed during preorders for the iphone 6 (OK, we could construe that as good news)Yeah, you could. The Register has panned the Apple Watch as "nothing more than digital perfume" and concludes gadget-mania is over. What an apt description. Because perfume is so unpopular. Most damning is this post making the rounds on Google Plus, telling iphone 6 users: welcome to 2012! If you need help with your iphone 6 features, just ask an Android user: we've had this stuff for years. As usual, Apple isn't doing anything new. They're just doing it well. Interesting. The market for a watch exists, yes.Going running with a 5" smart phone is quite annoying. Having an unobtrusive watch which does GPS, timing and logging, pulse monitoring, SMS, NFC for small purchases, music, etc. which is fully interoperable with the rest of your mobile devices will be a big thing for a lot of people.Lots and lots of young people go out running or cycling and have the disposable cash. I know a number of non-geeks who want one of these watches badly. Re: Non points - except one. From CNET:The Good: The Pebble Watch is waterproof, runs a ton of apps, and works with both iOS and Android phones. A new app store improves the whole experience. The Bad: A lack of touch screen and multitasking limits the capability of apps; scratch-prone polycarbonate design doesn't feel nearly as impressive as the Pebble Steel. The Bottom Line: With a major software update and new app store, the original Pebble gets a new lease on life -- a less stylish but arguably better value than the newer Steel. Some info on the apple watch:The Apple Watch is a music player like an iPodhas a fitness tracker with heart-rate measurementscan send and receive messages, calls and audio recordingsIt's meant to stay paired and connected while you wear it for most features, but it also does some things while disconnected, too.supports Apple Payhas heart-rate tracking technologywill only work with iPhoneStorage: unknownETA: mid 2015 Re: Non points - except one.
