Recasting Dr. Strangelove If It Were Made In 2021 | ScreenRant
Often regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, Dr. Strangelove remains an incredible cinematic achievement to this day. The 1964 nuclear war satire remains sharp, funny, and insightful nearly 60 years later. And while Stanley Kubrick's masterful direction is a big part of that, the pitch-perfect cast cannot be overlooked.RELATED: 8 Things That Still Hold Up Today In Dr. StrangeloveThe movie boasts some truly iconic performances, especially with Peter Sellers taking on three separate roles. But while Dr. Strangelove seems like one of those classic movies Hollywood wouldn't dare to remake, it is fun to imagine what modern cast might bring it to life.8 Gen. Ripper: Idris ElbaThe whole mess of the movie is set in motion by one man, General Ripper (Sterling Hayden). Ripper is a very serious and commanding military official who has grown delusional in the Cold War and orders a nuclear attack against the Soviets in order to stop their evil plans.RELATED: Recasting Casablanca If It Were Made In 2021While Ripper has some outlandish ideas, the role is made quite funny by the fact that he is a very serious man. Idris Elba has the kind of commanding presence necessary for a role like this. Much like his guest-starring role in The Office, Elba can step into a madcap situation and play the role of the straightforward and authoritative figure.7 Ambassador De Sadesky: ‎Kayvan NovakWhen the attack is ordered on the Soviet Union, the President of the United States gathers his war council together to address the problem. He also invites along the Soviet Ambassador de Sadesky (Peter Bull). He is another goofy and colorful character in this ensemble who is also sneakier than he first appears.Kayvan Novak is a terrific comedic actor who is best known for playing Nandor on What We Do in the Shadows. Novak excels at playing this rather unlikable vampire who is nonetheless funny in his ignorant and self-centered ways.6 Capt. Mandrake: Phoebe Waller-BridgeThough Mandrake was only one of three characters Peter Seller played in the movie, it seems more likely these roles would need to be split up among other actors. For Mandrake, Sellers is hilarious as the nervous yet persistent British officer who tries his best to prevent Ripper from carrying out his plan.Like Sellers, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a multi-talented star best known for her award-winning work on Fleabag. She has perfected that awkward British humor that would be perfect for the role of the neurotic Mandrake while also having the strength for some of the character's more heroic qualities.5 Col. Guano: Jon BernthalThough he is only in the movie for a short time, Colonel Guano (Keenan Wynn) is another funny addition to the story as he leads the attack on Ripper's base to stop the attack. Guano is a no-nonsense man who just follows orders and has no patience when Mandrake attempts to explain the life-or-death stakes of the situation.RELATED: Recasting It's A Wonderful Life If It Were Made In 2021From Fury to The Punisher, Jon Bernthal has made a career out of playing tough guy characters who act first and ask questions later. He is ideal for the kind of military men like Colonel Guano and Bernthal's trend of playing very serious and gruff characters would make the part all the funnier.4 President Muffley: Steve CarellAnother of Peter Sellers's roles in Dr. Strangelove is that of the President of the United States. President Muffley certainly takes the situation at hand very seriously, but he is also probably not the best man to handle a crisis. As things grow worse, his lackluster skills as a leader become more clear, especially in his awkward phone call with the Russian president. When thinking of bosses who are not great under pressure, Michael Scott from The Office certainly comes to mind. Steve Carell was hilarious at playing Michael as a manager who always says the wrong thing and seems to make every situation worse. A remake of Dr. Strangelove with Michael Scott as the president sounds like an ideal fit.3 Gen. Turgidson: Josh BrolinOscar-winning actor George C. Scott was mostly known for his dramatic roles like Patton, but he gives a hilarious over-the-top comedic performance in Dr. Strangelove. Scott plays General Turgidson, one of the president's top advisors who realizes the danger of the situation but also suspects everything is some plot by the Soviets to gain the upper hand.Josh Brolin is also known for many intense dramatic performances. But some of Brolin's most likable roles are when he is a total goofball. In movies like Inherent Vice and Hail, Caesar, Brolin plays his usual tough-guy role but also infuses the characters with zany comedic energy that fits into the world of these movies.2 Maj. Kong: Melissa McCarthyPerhaps the most iconic image from Dr. Strangelove is seeing Slim Pickens as Major 'King' Kong riding an atomic bomb down to its target as if it were a rodeo bull. Pickens plays the air force officer with a fun cowboy charm making him a larger-the-life character. He is a talkative and confident man even in the midst of this world-ending mission.Melissa McCarthy is a brilliant comedic actor who has a talent for playing big and bold characters without making it seem too much. Her breakout role in Bridesmaids is a perfect example of the kind of wild and hilarious energy she could bring to the role of Kong. It is funny enough just imagining her re-enacting that famous bomb-dropping sequence.1 Dr. Strangelove: Sacha Baron CohenThe third and final role Peter Sellers plays in the movie is the titular Dr. Strangelove. He is a former Nazi scientist now working as part of the president's council. The character, including his hand that has a mind of its own, is the most broadly comedic one of the movie, seeming cartoonish at times yet it is an undoubtedly hilarious creation.Sacha Baron Cohen resembles a modern-day Peter Sellers at times with his own career filled with strange and eccentric characters. He would surely be able to bring such an unusual creation to life and turn the small role into a scene-stealing character who earns the biggest laughs.NEXT: Recasting 12 Angry Men With An All-Female Cast In 2021
Halloween Kills Scene Left Judy Greer Actually Terrified
Judy Greer, one of the stars of the upcoming Halloween Kills, reveals the scene she found the most terrifying to film. The film follows-up David Gordon Green's Halloween, which retconned every film in the franchise to act as a direct sequel to John Carpenter's 1978 original. The 2018 reboot-quel saw the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the franchise's original final girl. Greer played Karen, Laurie's daughter, alongside fellow castmates Will Patton, Andi Matichak, Nick Castle, and Toby Huss.Halloween Kills sees the return of Curtis, Greer, and a few others, with Green once again behind the camera. The film is set to pick up moments after Halloween ended, continuing the same night of Michael Myers' murderous reign of terror. The significant shift for Greer's Karen comes from not believing in her mother's paranoia in the previous film to now having experienced Myers' return, changing the estranged dynamic between the two. That newly heightened bond will only deepen the terror in which they find themselves, both for the characters and the Halloween Kills audience.Related: Halloween Kills Will Tie A Special Friday The 13th RecordWhile speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Greer mentions a scene in Halloween Kills that sees Karen accompany Laurie to the hospital. Eventually, the hospital erupts into chaos, with a mob of people running and bumping into Karen and Laurie, who are pinned down in a hallway. As Greer put it, "the scariest part was for real," since even when the bedlam is choreographed, it can still be a tumultuous ordeal. Even with what she knew before filming, Greer couldn't help but feel terrified while being inches away from being trampled:

The 10 Best Quotes From The Fly (1986)
The 1986 remake of The Fly is one of the single-best horror/sci-fi epics ever made, and the debate still rages over whether it's better than the original 1958 version. Jeff Goldblum's excellent performance as the eccentric and loopy Seth Brundle is one of his best, and the film is loaded with many memorable quotes not just from his character, but others as well.

One Piece’s Luffy Vs. Mr. Fantastic: Which Elastic Hero is Stronger?
While there are several superheroes blessed with the uncanny power of elasticity, two of the more iconic stretchy comic book heroes are One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy and the Fantastic Four's leader Mr. Fantastic. Naturally, since their powers are based on their ability to stretch and contort themselves in unworldly forms, the question becomes, whose stretchability is the strongest.Neither Luffy nor Mr. Fantastic were born with their powers. Instead, each came onto their powers as a result of an outside event. In the case of Luffy, that event occurred when he ate the "Gum-Gum Fruit" as a child. As a result of eating the fruit, Luffy's body was rendered in a rubber-like state that allowedhim to stretch, bend, elongate, and inflate his body. In contrast, Reed Richards' transformation occurred after he piloted an authorized flight into space with his future wife Sue Storm, her brother - Johnny Storm, and Reed's college roommate Benjamin Grimm. The flight, which was conducted without proper protection, was pelted by gamma radiation. That radiation transformed Reed's DNA to give him the ability to stretch every part of his body as if he were a rubber band.

xXx 4 Should Borrow From Fast & Furious And Introduce Xander Cage's Family
If xXx 4 wants to evolve the series, it should take a page out of The Fast And The Furious playbook and bring in some of Xander Cage's family. The original xXx was custom built for Vin Diesel as a star vehicle, following the surprise success of 2001's The Fast And The Furious. Plans to turn it into a James Bond-style series came to halt when the star passed on a sequel, with Ice Cube taking over for State Of The Union in 2005. This follow-up was a box-office dud, but Diesel was later lured back for 2017's The Return Of Xander Cage. While that appeared to right the ship, xXx 4 has been delayed due to lawsuits. Despite being one of Diesel's most well-known franchises, he's only played Cage twice over a 20-year span. Compared to his run as Dom in the Fast & Furious movies - who throughout that series has evolved from street racer to saving the world multiple times - has barely scratched the surface of Cage as a character. Outside of his fondness for tattoos and extreme sports, there's not much depth to Xander.
Shang-Chi Passes $400M at Global Box Office Even Without China
Disney and Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings continues to outperform expectations at the box office, sailing past $400 million worldwide. The Phase 4 MCU movie is in its sixth weekend since its release, which was back on September 3. Shang-Chi was an immediate success upon release, grossing $29.6 million at the box office on its opening day, which was the third-best opening day during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shang-Chi would go on to take the crown of the largest Labor Day weekend opening ever. The Disney film earned over $94 million at the box office during the 4-day weekend, far surpassing Rob Zombie's 2007 Halloween reboot which previously held the Labor Day opening weekend crown at $30.6 million. Shang-Chi ended up earning $100 million in just five days, making it the fastest to film to reach such a milestone since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film held the number one spot at the box office for four consecutive weekends, marking it as the third MCU movie to pull off such a feat behind Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther. By September 30, Shang-Chi hit another box office record by becoming the first pandemic era movie to achieve the $200 million box office milestone, and it seems the film has just surpassed another one.
Astronomers 'Stumped' Over Images Of Bizarre Double Galaxy
It's not too often that astronomers are at a loss for words when making a space-related discovery, but the above image from NASA's Hubble telescope managed to do precisely that. Of all the tools at our disposal for exploring outer space, Hubble has repeatedly proven to be one of the best. The 31-year-old telescope has made countless discoveries over the years, whether it be answering questions about our own Solar System or investigating galaxies millions of light-years away.In 2021 alone, Hubble has been up to a lot. It's captured a large 'eye' in the middle of a constellation, learned new information about Jupiter's Great Red Spot, and even identified a 'ghost' galaxy utterly devoid of dark matter. All of this has happened despite a scare earlier this year — one that caused Hubble to go offline for a month due to a nasty computer glitch.

DWTS: Cheryl Burke & Cody Rigsby Reunite Following COVID-19 Diagnosis
Cheryl Burke and Cody Rigsby have reunited inside the Dancing With The Stars rehearsal studio following their COVID-19 diagnosis. Within the last two weeks, both Cheryl and Cody tested positive for COVID-19, forcing them to rehearsal and perform virtually and individually. In doing so, they were allowed to remain in the competition despite not being physically present for the live shows.Cheryl was the first to test positive between the dancing duo. Just days before the second live show of DWTS season 30, Cheryl tested positive for COVID-19. In place of their live performance for that week, the four judges based the couple's scores off of a prerecorded rehearsal from before Cheryl's diagnosis. Then just a few short days later, Cody tested positive as well. As the duo continued to rehearse via Zoom, their third performance took place virtually from inside their individual homes. This was the first time ever on the show a couple has performed in such a way.
Who is the Spawn Universe's New Star, Gunslinger Spawn?
The Spawn universe has a variety of hellspawn, created by the demon Malebolgia. There have been a few different iterations of the comics' main character and the hellspawn, including Medieval Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and Raven Spawn. Lately, Gunslinger Spawn - a fan favorite - has been garnering some extra attention, but who exactly is he and what do fans need to know about him?Gunslinger Spawn first appeared in Spawn #119 in 2002, in a very brief cameo with no dialogue. In 2008, his backstory was revealed within Spawn #174 and #175. This hellspawn had the name of Jeremy Winston, but was known as "ol' Job". He was a former preacher in Bane, Colorado in 1881, before being framed for the murder of his own family. A rich man named Ed Kemper was after silver on Winston's land. He wanted it so bad, he tried to force a deal which quickly went south since Winston's wife wasn't the kind of person to back down to intimidation. As a result, Kemper and his men killed her, as well as Winston's children. Their power allowed them to place the former preacher into prison to be hanged.

Batwoman Season 3 Will Have a Major Story Arc for Poison Ivy
Batwoman season 3 will include a major arc for Poison Ivy. Premiering in October 2019, the CW series is based on the DC Comics character of the same name and is part of the Arrowverse. In its second season, which concluded in January of this year, the show experienced a significant shift as Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) took over as Batwoman. And, in the Batwoman season 2 finale, Ryan finally found herself in a good place. Having been released from parole, she moves out of her van and seems to be accepting the mantle of Batwoman that once belonged to Kate Kane. However, during a visit to Alice (Rachel Skarsten) in Arkham Asylum, Ryan learns the shocking news that her birth mother is still alive.Batwoman season 3 will address the bombshell regarding Ryan’s mother. But it will also pick up on the major tease which closed out the previous installment of the series, as major DC villains were foreshadowed. Penguin’s umbrella and Mad Hatter’s signature look were glimpsed in the Gotham River. And, additionally, Poison Ivy’s trademark veins are seen taking root on the shore. Then, in August, it was reported that Bridget Regan would recur in the role of Poison Ivy.
Where Each Netflix Defender Could Return In Upcoming MCU Movies & Shows
Netflix's Defenders characters could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe at last and may feature in a number of different shows and feature films. Back when the MCU was truly taking off after The Avengers, Marvel TV and Netflix joined forces to create multiple Marvel shows that would culminate with a crossover event, The Defenders. Shows for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist entered development and were sold as taking place in the MCU. Now, these characters could be set to join forces with the wider franchise. The original Marvel/Netflix shows launched with great success thanks to Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but the popularity of the universe continued to dwindle as time went on. One of the reasons viewers began to tune out may have been the lack of crossover between the shows and the MCU movies. This eventually led to Netflix slowly canceling all of its Marvel shows that existed within the Defenders universe. It began with Iron Fist's cancelation just a month after season 2 debuted, which was followed by Luke Cage being canceled a week later. While fans hoped this could be to set up a Heroes for Hire show, instead, Netflix eventually confirmed that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher were ending too. These cancelations left major storylines unresolved and seemed to indicate that their stories were over, along with any chance of a proper Defenders MCU crossover.
Vikings: Valhalla Explained - What The Spinoff Title Really Means
The world of Vikings will continue expanding with the sequel series Vikings: Valhalla, but what does the title really mean? Historical drama has become one of the most popular genres on TV, and among the most successful projects in recent years is Vikings, created by Michael Hirst (The Tudors). Although it was originally planned to be a miniseries, the first episodes of Vikings were so well-received by both critics and viewers that it was quickly renewed for a second season, and it lived on for a total of six seasons, coming to an end in December 2020.Vikings covered the first years of the Viking Age, from the Lindisfarne raid (as seen in season 1) onward, and the main focus of the first seasons was legendary Norse figure Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his travels and raids alongside his Viking brothers. However, as the series progressed, it changed its focus to Ragnar’s sons (Björn, Ubbe, Hvitserk, Sigurd, and Ivar), who ended up becoming the protagonists of the show, carrying the story after Ragnar’s death in season 4. The final season of Vikings brought the arcs of its main characters to an end, but the stories from the Viking Age don’t end there, and a spinoff series, titled Vikings: Valhalla, will be released on Netflix in 2022.
Blue Origin postpones William Shatner’s space flight by a day
William Shatner is heading to space on October 13th | Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicJeff Bezos’ spaceflight company Blue Origin said Sunday it will postpone the flight that is slated to fly William Shatner to space due to forecasted high winds at its launch site. The flight of the company’s New Shepard spacecraft is now scheduled for 9:30AM ET on October 13th, a day later than originally planned. It’s targeted to lift off from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One in Texas.A statement on Blue Origin’s website said New Shepard NS-18 has met all mission requirements, and the astronauts have started their training. “Weather is the only gating factor for the launch window,” according to the statement, which is signed with the company motto “Gradatim Ferociter” (Latin for “step by step, ferociously”).
UK takes on Elon Musk in the broadband space race
Image credit: The ObserverThey are invisible to the naked eye, but can leave a streak of light across an astronomer’s telescope. Above our heads, the constellation of small satellites orbiting the Earth is expanding every month. Often no bigger than a fridge, they are part of a new space race as rivals compete to beam broadband internet to the hardest-to-reach places on Earth. The frontrunners are Starlink, backed by US tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, and OneWeb, which is part- owned by the British taxpayer. The latter’s plan to build a network of 650 satellites is a centrepiece of the UK’s space strategy, unveiled in September. In 2020, OneWeb was facing insolvency and the government was persuaded to rescue it. To Boris Johnson it was a gift from the heavens. The UK had been bounced by Brexit from the European Union’s Galileo satellite project, and there was Dominic Cummings, technology wonk and chief adviser, touting the network as a pathway back into space.OneWeb at the time was focused on using satellites to provide accurate positioning information for anything from smartphone maps to emergency services tracking.Johnson’s splurging of £400m of taxpayer money on a 20% stake was seen by Cummings as a perfect example of the high-risk, high-reward investment the government needed to avoid being left in the technological slow lane. Others called it a nonsensical gamble of public money and “nationalism trumping solid industrial policy”. Some experts suggested Britain had “bought the wrong satellites”. OneWeb’s lower Earth orbit internet satellites were, they said, inferior to higher-orbiting positioning systems such as Galileo, America’s GPS and Russia’s Glonass. But now, with demand for satellite broadband exploding, Britain may – perhaps inadvertently – have bought itself a prime seat in another innovative yet fledgling space industry.Rejuvenated OneWeb has attracted investment from Japan’s Softbank, the US’s Hughes Network Systems and India’s Bharti Enterprises. Bharti is the largest shareholder, with 38.6%, while the UK has sold down from 45% to 19.3%, on a par with Softbank and France’s Eutelsat, which is planning a further £120m injection this month.OneWeb and Starlink are the only broadband operators to have actually placed satellites into space, and OneWeb is poised to provide a blanket of fast internet access, particularly to remote areas. The problem, analysts say, is that Johnson, who just weeks ago unveiled the UK’s ambitious new space strategy – promptly dubbed Galactic Britain – has yet to see its potential.

GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas fans are using Steam reviews to encourage people to buy the originals before Rockstar delists them next week
Rockstar this week revealed the game's worst secret: remakes of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. In addition, Rockstar has confirmed its plan to remove the original version from all digital retailers on PCs and consoles starting next week and to replace it in several storefronts with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. The decision to remove these classics is a blow to video game preservation and obviously bad for player selection, but Rockstar is unlikely to be giving up - at least not anytime soon. And so fans flocked to Steam to show people buying the original before they lost their chance - probably forever."Before you leave Steam, make sure your ass has a triple," wrote Pink Diamond in a GTA 3 Steam review. "Buy this to be removed next week," GrunkleBran said in a review on Vice City Steam."Buy it before you remove it," User Park said in a review on San Andreas Steam.Game owner fans use Steam rating to say goodbye. One of them was particularly interesting to me, from a Steam user with an incredible 2780 hours recorded with San Andreas:

NASA Rover Captures Breathtaking Mars Landscape Photo You Can't Miss
Mars' landscape may be barren and dangerous to human life, but thanks to photos like this from NASA's advanced rovers, that doesn't stop it from looking any less stunning. Although humans have yet to set foot on Mars, robotics and other technologies have allowed astronomers to closely analyze the mysterious planet. Whether it be bleeding-edge telescopes, rovers, helicopters, orbiters, or something else, humans have found inventive ways to closely study a planet we've never actually visited. One such rover contributing to Mars exploration is Perseverance. Perseverance landed on Mars this past February with a simple yet ambitious goal — to traverse the planet searching for ancient life. People have long theorized that Mars was once home to alien lifeforms. If this is true, Perseverance will be the rover to answer that question once and for all. In just a few short months, Perseverance has already collected Martian rock samples, explored new areas on the planet, and more.
How Jango Fett Was Responsible For Asajj Ventress' Lightsabers
Jango Fett was indirectly responsible for arming Asajj Ventress with her signature red-bladed lightsabers in Star Wars: Clone Wars. Fett and Ventress never met, but the latter killed many of Jango’s clones, who, in the Legends continuity, were his pride and joy, representing his Mandalorian legacy. The two legendary warriors were also, ultimately, pawns of Count Dooku and his Sith Master, Darth Sidious. Through the intricate machinations of Dooku, on behalf of Palpatine, Jango provided the Count with a pair of lightsabers which he later gifted to Ventress upon accepting her as his unofficial Sith Apprentice. The two properties that showcase these events are the 2002 video game, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and the 2003 Clone Wars animated series. Both are part of the Legends universe, which was designated the official Star Wars timeline by Lucasfilm before 2014’s continuity revamp. Like the ongoing mainstream canon universe, Legends told a comprehensive story that connected the original and prequel trilogy films and numerous comics, TV shows, video games, novels, and even spinoff movies. Bounty Hunter tells the story of how Jango Fett became the template for the Republic’s Clone Army, tracking down one of Dooku’s apprentices, Komari Vosa, who fell to the dark side and became the leader of the cult-like crime organization The Bando Gora. Jango defeats Vosa at the end of Bounty Hunter, and the insane dark side user is promptly executed by Count Dooku, aka Darth Tyrannus. Vosa’s now red-bladed lightsabers, whose curved hilts were patterned after Dooku’s weapon, were taken by Dooku following her death. Years later, Dooku would travel to Rattatak in search of a Sith Apprentice, as shown in Clone Wars. A local Rattataki and warlord, Asajj Ventress, proved herself to be more than worthy of Dooku’s teachings, and the Sith Lord gave her Vosa’s lightsabers as a gift to replace her two previous lightsabers, which Dooku destroyed during their brief duel. Thanks to Jango Fett, Vosa’s weapons were passed down to Ventress, becoming weapons of the Sith. It’s unclear when Komari Vosa built her curved-hilted lightsabers, but she fought Jango Fett’s Mandalorians on Galidraan with a single blue-bladed weapon that had a straight hilt. As the Bando Gora leader, the weapons closely resembled Dooku’s lightsaber, with similar hilts and red blades, generated by synthetic lightsaber crystals. The lightsabers could be linked together, forming a double-bladed lightsaber, similar to Darth Maul’s or Exar Kun’s. Asajj Ventress used the late Vosa’s weapons to kill numerous Jedi and clone troopers during the Clone Wars, as shown throughout the Legends-era Clone Wars multimedia project. Unlike his Canon counterpart, the Legends-era Jango Fett cared for his clones, and likely would have felt disgusted for inadvertently arming someone who killed so many of them. The connection between Dooku, Vosa, Jango, and Ventress demonstrates the depth of Palpatine’s schemes for galactic dominance. In one fell swoop, Jango Fett removed a liability to Dooku and Sidious, provided them with the ideal Clone Army, and supplied Dooku with weapons for his eventual Sith Apprentice.Komari Vosa has no counterpart in the canon timeline, so Asajj’s weapons in canon were presumably built by Ventress during her Sith training under Dooku. Ventress, whose background was changed in canon from Rattataki to Dathomiri, must have intentionally built them to reflect Dooku's curved lightsaber and her fighting style, which blended Makashi and Jar’Kai. In the Legends-era Star Wars: Clone Wars, however, Asajj Ventress got her Sith lightsabers, indirectly, thanks to Jango Fett’s first mission for Count Dooku.

Additionally, higher-level Great Axe perks have some self-healing options as well, making the Great Axe one of the best weapons in New World.Unlike weapons such as the Hatchet, Sword and Shield, or Spear, the Great Axe doesn't have any ranged options for its Mastery Trees. Instead, its Mastery Trees are split into powerful single-target attacks and multi-target attacks. Both trees are excellent for damaging and crowd control, which is why the Great Axe is a useful weapon for both DPS-focused builds and Tanks Builds.

Bruce Wayne Got Batgirl Pregnant In Batman Beyond
Warning! Spoilers for Batman Beyond 2.0 #28In a world inspired by the beloved DC Animated Universe, Batman once got Batgirl pregnant. Not only is their past relationship scandalous to fans— it’s also infuriating to Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing, who was Barbara Gordon’s boyfriend at the time.Although some fans might forget that both Bruce and Dick had romantic relationships with Barbara during Batman: The New Adventures, audiences were enraged when Batman and Batgirl got together in the animated adaptation of The Killing Joke. At the time, many felt it was inappropriate for the two bat vigilantes to get together, especially when she had been long portrayed as a teenage sidekick. However, it turns out there has been an even bigger offense regarding their affair in Batman Beyond 2.0 #28, written by Kyle Higgins with art by Phil Hester and Craig Rousseau.
The Many Saints of Newark Should Have Been A Miniseries
Critics are divided on the movie The Many Saints of Newark, and many of the problems could have been avoided by using a miniseries format for the prequel. David Chase's feature film provides viewers a glimpse into the backstory of The Sopranos, showing how a young Tony Soprano was mentored by Dickie Moltisanti. Unfortunately, the format of a two-hour movie leads to many plot points feeling rushed or unsatisfying, resulting in The Many Saints of Newark's mixed reviews.Set decades before The Sopranos in the Newark of the 1960s and 70s, The Many Saints of Newark depicts Dickie's rise through the DiMeo crime family, his turbulent relationship with his father's young wife Giuseppina, and his abrupt death. The movie also introduces the character of Harold, a Black gangster who struggles to find a place amidst the racism of the mafia and the broader society. The Many Saints of Newark also includes glimpses of younger versions of several Sopranos characters including Livia, Junior, and Carmela.

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephanie Perkins, the film tracks a masked killer stalking the senior class of Osborne High only to be met with resistance by a marginalized group of outcasts. What makes this story interesting is how the killer intends to expose the students' deep-dark secrets before ending their lives, making for a subversive, unpredictable, and genre-defying story that Brice often enjoys telling. One of the more underrated horror anthology series of the past decade includes V/H/S, created by David Bruckner and Simon Barrett. Both men return for the upcoming 4th franchise entry, V/H/S/94, set to bow exclusively on Shudder on October 6. 007: 7 Directors Who Almost Helmed A Bond Movie (& 8 Who Should)
The most important hire in the making of a James Bond movie is the casting of 007 himself, but the second most important is choosing a director. To pull off a great Bond movie, a filmmaker needs to have a fundamental understanding of what makes the character and his stories work, a unique take on the familiar formula, and most importantly, experience with directing action.
Why Joss Whedon's Alien 5 Never Happened (& What It Would've Looked Like)
Penned by Joss Whedon and set on Earth after Alien Resurrection, Alien 5 is one of the biggest sequels never to see the light of day. The Alien franchise is a success by any barometer or metric, spawning 4 mainline installments and 2 prequel films, with the original Alien's induction into the National Film Registry for historical preservation highlighting its cultural significance. All Alien installments center around the origins or activity of the iconic early Xenomorph, designed by legendary Swiss surrealist H.R. Geiger. The final film in the original series, Alien Resurrection, ended with Call (Winona Ryder) and Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) floating towards a futuristic Earth after escaping the human/Alien hybrid. The poignancy of this moment should not be understated given Ripley's continued desire to return home across the entire franchise, with Ripley 8's statement to Call, "I'm a stranger here myself," confirming the arduous 257-year journey she has undergone to reach that moment. Like Ripley before it, the Alien franchise has since been in stasis, with Alien Resurrection's release almost 2 decades ago, the last of the original movie quartet.Related: Why Alien 7 Should Bring Back Resurrection’s Hated Hybrid VillainYet, it could have been so different if the purportedly finished script of Alien 5 had come to fruition. The Avengers' Joss Whedon offered up a script designed to take the franchise back full circle, set 30 years after the Nostromo's doomed journey back to mother Earth before a raft of complications put paid to his vision. Here's why Whedon's Alien 5 never happened and what the film would have looked like if it did. What immediately juts forward from Whedon's Alien 5 concept is his understanding of the Alien franchise and his love of it. Whedon himself penned the script for Alien: Resurrection, providing several drafts before director Jean-Pierre Jeunet settled on an entirely different climax for the 4th Alien installment, seeing the Alien-hybrid sucked through a hole into space. Whedon has personally voiced his deep regrets at the final product presented by the flawed Alien: Resurrection movie, with his designs for Alien 5 looking to right many of the prior film's wrongs. While plot details have only been released in a piecemeal fashion for Alien 5's script, it is understood to take place on Earth in the immediate aftermath of Alien: Resurrection. Ripley and Call continue their descent to the planetoid, unaware that they are not alone following the explosion of the Auriga in typical Alien fashion. Alien 5 was designed to end the Alien narrative surrounding Sigourney Weaver's iconic Ripley, with her homecoming after 257 years away from the planet designed to offer a sense of finality to the original movie series. Whedon's decision to close Ripley's loop shows he understands the importance of returning the Alien films to the human, tension-driven settings so oft provided by Ridley Scott. Watching John Hurt's Kane choke at night in the mess hall after awakening from his ordeal delivers a visceral moment steeped in atmosphere and un-touched by complex creature-based scenes. In this way, the Alien 5 script's premise promised to bring Ripley back to the fore and shy away from the frenetic and often incomprehensible action that marred Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection.Several factors conspired to herald the downfall of Alien 5's incubating production, with the script unable to muster a concerted effort at truly being considered for release. Whedon's Earth-based script may have looked to usher in a return to the dazzling Ridley Scott Alien era, but its intent to close the story came at a heavy price. Sigourney Weaver's approval of the script became a key component of the pre-production ritual for all direct Alien sequels - a grace ultimately denied to Whedon by Weaver. Weaver has cited many issues with Whedon's handling of Ripley, stating that his vision of her return to Earth diluted the first Alien's impact significantly. She also stated that, based on Whedon's script, Ripley would lose her last shred of humanity and become a one-dimensional character, which ironically was something both Weaver and Whedon had wanted to avoid in Alien 5.Related: AVP: Requiem Proved Predator Had A Clearer Movie Future Than AlienHowever, Sigourney Weaver's lack of approval was not the only factor in holding Alien 5 back from the races. Even as far back as 1998, 20th Century Fox had begun work on a "Frankenstein Meets Werewolf"concept that would look to pit Ridley Scott's Alien against John McTiernan's Predator in their original forms. James Cameron, who Fox had initially asked to help pen a 5th Alien installment (akin to his Aliens success), immediately distanced himself from the project, bashing it as something that would "kill the validity of the franchise." Despite losing their man at the helm, the studio pressed on, eventually releasing Paul W.S. Anderson's AVP: Alien vs. Predator in 2004. The release of AVP was the final nail in the coffin for Whedon's shelved Alien 5 script, taking the Alien franchise on a less serious tangent and quashing Alien 5's decidedly human concept in the process. While Joss Whedon's vision for the canceled Alien 5 is unlikely to reappear, other incarnations are well underway for a fifth Alien movie. The Alien prequel, Prometheus, initially looked to be taking the franchise in a bold new direction, receiving the best reviews for an Alien installment since Aliens. However, its follow-up, Alien: Covenant, was released in 2017 to decidedly mixed reviews, causing 20th Century Fox to reassess their position on the overarching prequel narrative. Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019 altered the players in the Alien landscape, but perhaps not the linear franchise plan, after officially confirming at the 2019 CinemaCon that Alien sequels were in production.Gallingly for Joss Whedon's alternate Alien 5, Sigourney Weaver's stance also seems to have softened on Ripley's potential narratives. At the 2014 Hero Complex film festival, Weaver stated, "Had we done a fifth one, I don't doubt that her humanity would have prevailed. I do feel like there is more story to tell. I feel a longing from fans for the story to be finished. I could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story." While there is no confirmed word on Weaver returning for Disney's Alien projects, it is hard to imagine a Xenomorph story untethered to the iconic Ripley. Although Joss Whedon's Alien 5 concept seems destined to gather dust somewhere, his notion of Alien 5 embracing its human element is one any future Alien franchise installments should embody.More: Why Alien’s Best Movie Future Brings The Xenomorphs To Earth

DELTA VARIANT DOES NOT APPEAR TO MAKE CHILDREN SICKER
Image Credit:ReutersThe Delta variant of the coronavirus does not appear to cause more severe disease in children than earlier forms of the virus, a UK study suggests.Earlier this year, the research team found the Alpha variant of the virus did not appear to make children sicker than the so-called wild, or original, form of the virus, first seen in China. New data suggests that kids also do not get any sicker from Delta than they did from Alpha.Researchers compared two groups of school-age kids with COVID-19: 694 infected with the Alpha variant between late December 2020 and early May 2021, and 706 infected with Delta between late May and early July.As reported on Thursday on medRxiv ahead of peer review, children infected with Delta had slightly more symptoms. But in both groups, very few children needed to be hospitalized and long periods of illness were uncommon. In both groups, half of the children were sick for no more than five days. The researchers lacked information on differences between the groups that might have influenced the results, such as whether lockdowns were in place, and the effects of different seasons.“Our data suggest that clinical characteristics of COVID-19 due to the Delta variant in children are broadly similar to COVID-19 due to other variants,” the researchers concluded. That appears to jibe with data reported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).“Although we are seeing more cases in children … these studies demonstrated that there was not increased disease severity in children,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said of the Delta-driven wave in a statement. “More children have COVID-19 because there is more disease in the community.”
