My dad wants to give me his gun

This would be the first gun I've (20f) ever owned. It's a Sig Saur 10mm p320 (I believe). Now he isn't just going to give it to me willy nilly, I have to learn how to take it apart, clean it, put it back together, learn all the safety precautions, etc etc... anyways, besides all this, I'm a pretty thin girl and it's literally like a cannon in my hand. Is this a good first gun, or should I buy something a little less powerful?
