Much of the same came into the second stage as Byron won again with Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman finishing in the second and third place. Kyle Larson looked to be a strong contender in the final stage but a caution featuring Joey Logano forced overtime which helped Byron win the final stage.

LAFC started the 2023 MLS season in style, as they celebrated their 2022 MLS Cup Championship in their home opener against the Portland Timbers. The Timbers and LAFC were deadlock until Giorgio Chiellini's goal from a corner in the 24th minute unlocked the festivities. Once LAFC were on board, they were clicking as Carlos Vela added a goal just minutes later and Kwadwo Opoku scored a goal in the 52nd minute. The Timbers mounted a furious comeback late in the second half through Evander and Cristhian Paredes' goal in the 62nd and 84th minutes. However, it wasn't enough as LAFC were able to hold on to a 3-2 victory against the Timbers.
