Despite an 11-strikeout performance from Tyler Chatwood, the Cubs bullpen almost gave away another game against the Pirates. Up 4-0 entering the ninth, Kyle Ryan, Jeremy Jeffress, and Rowan Wick managed to get three outs while conceding just three runs and the Cubs held on, 4-3.
After a questionable penalty was awarded, Jesus Medina did not waste his penalty kick opportunity. He found the back of the net in the 27th minute to give NYCFC a 1-0 lead over the Portland Timbers with a spot in the MLS is Back tournament semifinals on the line.
Breanna Stewart had 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals and the Seattle Storm never trailed in their 81-75 win over the Los Angeles Sparks
The Minnesota Twins homered three times in a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians. Miguel Sanó hit his first two home runs of the season. The Twins take sole possession of first place in the AL Central. In the win, Kenta Maeda picked up the win, going six innings, allowing only one hit.
