Toronto announced late Friday the grim news that the city saw the biggest increase in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. The news comes on the eve of the first weekend of an Ontario-wide stay-at-home order.
Maybe we should all try to be positive. After all, the day after elective surgeries in Ontario were cancelled due to a pandemic allowed to spread out of control, Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario, said “As I said in my press conference the other day: folks, let’s stay positive.” He also said, “Sometimes folks, again, you have to go on the news, look around the world, Ontario is doing pretty well right now.” He really did say that.
I hope you’ve been doing your stretches and staying hydrated, because we’re headed into a five-week marathon of House activity. The Liberals and New Democrats are huddled virtually for their conventions this weekend, so everyone should be returning to the Hill pumped up on policy and raring to go.
