Winchester XPR sportier in .308 or Mauser M18 in .308 Im looking to buy my first hunting rifle, the Mauser and Winchester is in a nice price range for me to get started. I want to know if anyone has one of the two weapons and if they have any opinions. Tikka T3 in 30.06 is another option but my father has a SAKO 30.06 so want to get a different caliber gun. submitted by /u/That_guy_pete
Thought it was pretty neat to run into a man who started the commercial M1A rifle. Our generation will be a lesser one when we lose men like this. submitted by /u/Inevitable_Home4285
why do you think the 9mm became the worlds most popular cartridge? what are the reasons that the 9mm became so popular? what about that cartridge makes it the most popular cartridge in the world? what do you guys think? does it deserve to be the world's most popular cartridge? submitted by /u/how_to_glock43x

I was recently looking in to getting a Glock 34 due to its capability at range- I don’t have any specific use for it other than going to the range and having it to daily carry. I was curious though, due to its length, does anyone know if doing a concealed carry with the G34 would cause issues that outweigh the benefits of the weapon?
The glock is calling me because of after market options but the xdm has me in a chokehold after firing the .45 xdm. submitted by /u/Fearless_Angle_2872
Is the Bravo Company MFG MCMR-10 Modular Rail AR-15 Handguard - M-LOK - 10.5" compatible with stag arms LH upper receiver and DD 12.5 barrel compatible as well? I just want to make sure before I make my purchase submitted by /u/Over_Yogurtcloset895
Looking to invest in my 1st pistol, From my experience with handguns thus far I prefer hammer fired metal framed pistols. A pistol with a double stacked magazine would be preferred. I would like to keep the purchase price below $600 if possible and I’m not afraid to look into getting a used firearm if it fits my criteria and helps keep me in budget. I’ve been interested in options like the girsan regard mc. But was hoping to find an option that was a bit more concealable, Although I’m not necessarily opposed to a full size pistol, as long as it’s manageable enough to keep hidden. I also have liked pistols like the smith and Wesson model 59 and tend to favor classic pistol designs and aesthetics. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/Ok_Acadia_1665
[California] I'm flying oversees. I can't bring it with me. I don't want to sell it. And I can't leave it at home because I rent the place and it would be problematic. Last time I left for six months, I left it with a gun shop for a small monthly fee, but they recently shut down. I can probably find a similar thing at another shop, but there aren't many near me and just wondering if anyone has any alternative ideas? Thanks submitted by /u/Zoroastrian_Vilma
Hi! So I'll preface this by saying, I'm fully aware old milsurp bolt actions kinda suck when compared to modern day rifles. I'm not really looking for these due to them being practical, more for the fun and 'coolness' factor of them. I'm mainly looking for accuracy (gun range fun), and looks if I'm being perfectly honest. Recommendations would be GREAT. I've heard the 1903 Springfield and Kar98k, and the K31 are good, but I'm not sure which is the best. If I'm being stupid please tell me, I'm not good with oooold rifles. Thanks -Zoomer submitted by /u/Hackdirt-Brethren
is it illegal to own a firearm that has been connected to crimes prior to current owners possession. basically, if they run the serial or whatever they do to see if the gun is dirty, am I in trouble for the crimes that have been committed with said gun submitted by /u/fuggeer
Still working on final touches , I know there not impossible to open but now they better bring a dust mask! And more tools!! Jk I hope I never have to write about something like that... submitted by /u/memoeaqueda23
I'm new to the whole gun scene since my country has pretty strict laws regarding fire arms so please keep this in mind because my terminology is very much lacking! I recently went to a gun range near me just to have some fun and blow off steam and I took a few shots from a CZ Scorpion Evo, Ruger PPC Carbine and a couple of different pistols. Now one of these pistols I can't recall the name of and I would REALLY like to find it because I might look into getting one for myself. Plus, I just want to start learning about guns in general and remembering their names is a decent way to do so. I know it's a .22 LR and I remember it had a very specific slide. The slide isn't actually the entire top half of the gun, instead you rack it by grabbing a ridged piece on the side of it and pulling it backwards. When you do so only a thin piece on both sides actually slides back instead of the whole top part above the barrel doing so. I can't remember neither the name nor the maker of the pistol, please help! Edit: It might be Keltec CP33 but I dont think it has that back part over my hand when I shot it. The slide is basically that, almost identical rack motion. So I think it's something that has that type of slide just not CP33 exactly. Edit 2: FOUND IT! Beretta 87 Target! Some kind soul here suggested Beretta 89 and it was VERY close so I kept digging and found the 87 Target! Thank you all so much for the help and I'm sorry to bother you all! submitted by /u/UniverseWolf42
Introduction These next couple mini reviews, I'm going to cover some lesser priced optics. I think it is important to see what your money buys you in context. Sometimes I find high priced optics in this weird realm of being justifiable to me, but other people aren't able to tell a difference. An anonymous contributor sent me this optic to play with. I spent a few minutes doing some tracking tests, playing with controls, and looking at glass. Today is overcast and rainy, so not the best day for seeing chromatic aberration, but a good day for seeing how light behaves, sharpness, things like that. I recently did one of these with the Optika 6, so this will be the reference comparison for this optic and the next optic I'm doing. About Monstrum Monstrum is a company that has been around for a long time producing very cheap Chinese import optics/mounts/accessories of... questionable quality. I've bought Monstrum parts before and had them break. It's a thing that happens. Usually, the recipe is cast potmetal grade aluminum, simple dopey designs, and competing with Piney and CVLife on prices. This particular optic is a G2 6-24x50 FFP, notionally priced at $200 including optic rings - so competing with the Vortex Crossfire and other very entry level options. Here is what their customers have to say:
Grandpa wants to mount a Holosun to his 870 20ga turkey gun. I’m looking for the easiest/cheapest way to get a pic rail (or similar) on top. It doesn’t have to sleek or pretty. Function over form so to speak. Any suggestions from you guys? Gun isn’t drilled and tapped and he said it would cost $100 to do that so he’s not biting. submitted by /u/nick91900
My neighbor had a break in and guns were the first thing the people took. I’m Thinking about tagging my guns in case they get stolen. I believe I could hide one between the stock and buttpad or at minimum the case I keep them in. What’s your opinion? What if they are stolen and a crime is committed? Would that make my defense worse or better? submitted by /u/pillbug0907
Hi all, I recently got my firearms licence (Canada) and have a Winchester 94 I inherited from a relative. I’m looking to shoot it for the first time this weekend but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything safety-wise. First, I’ve looked at the gun and there does not appear to be anything mechanically wrong with it. The barrel is clean and clear from obstruction. There is no obvious defect or damage to the chamber. It’s chambered for 30-30 per the barrel, and I bought some Winchester 30-30 170 grain ammunition. Is there anything else I need to know before shooting? I’ll take adequate hearing and eye protection, too. Again, I’m a total noob to firearms beyond the course I took and will be at range which is usually empty (literally, it’s rural and I’m now a member with a gate lock code so I’ll probably be there alone). I don’t want the gun blowing up because I did something wrong, though I’m not sure how much of a risk that is. Perhaps very low, but I want to make sure. Thanks all! submitted by /u/Secondbreakfasttt
So, a few weeks back, the 5th circuit of appeals threw out the ruling that bump stocks are considered "machine guns". Now, they're technically legal again (as they should be). That being said, does anyone have an STL file they could share, or know where I can find one? submitted by /u/Beastie18
I’m trying to recreate the metal piece you pull the the sling out with. If there’s anyone here that can help, I just need pictures and measurements of the piece. A trace of the shape would be handy. Any and all help is appreciated! submitted by /u/No-Faithlessness7610
Really been trying to focus on my vice grip on the gun and I think this clip shows off my current progress. Happy with my groupings at 10 and 15 feet. Ready to push the distance out more at the next range session! submitted by /u/outerhavenstudio
All the reviews said the sights sucked, the cheek weld wasn't that great, and they complained about it not having qd sling mounts. It comes with a qd sling. All trivial. I love Tuna!!
I inherited this gun and I need help identifying and valuing. I can see it is a 264 win mag with action done by FNH in Belgium. I can’t really tell anything else. Any help would be appreciated. https://imgur.com/a/wiWf1SJ submitted by /u/MWLLTX
I bought a brand new Ruger American Ranch rifle chambered in 7.62x39. I was shooting it for the first time the other day and after my very first shot, I lifted the bolt up, but then it wouldn't pull back to eject the round. It also does not go back down. It's just stuck in the up position and there's a shell still in the chamber. I tried to tap out the shell with a cleaning rod, but I don't know how hard to hit and I don't want to damage the gun. Are there other things I can try to do without completely taking apart the gun? Ideally I would like to fix it locally rather than shipping it to Ruger for service. Thanks in advance Edit: I'll whack the shit out of my bolt tonight with a mallet and will update this post with the (hopefully positive) results. submitted by /u/mavagam99
So, recently I bought a few of these odd AR-10 mags, marked "Fidelis Arms Inc" on the bottom metal. Any digging results in an apparent scam company that marketed an AR-10/G3 magwell receiver and went vaporware. No pictures or references to these mags seem to exist, so I'm wondering if anybody here might know. The mags are fit for DPMS/SR25 magwells and while longer/more flat-bottomed than a DPMS (shown on the right for comparison) still seem to be aluminum 20rd 7.62 NATO in design. They have rear witness holes similar to some FAL mags, and a polished metal follower similar to a G3 follower. Tested fitment/BHO in an LR308 and a DT MDR, no fitment issues. So, what do y'all think? submitted by /u/Mr_FN
Just bought my first handgun for home defense, Glock 43x. I am familiar with shotguns and deer rifles but have never shot a handgun for some reason. I am taking it to the range here in Florida and don’t want to look like a total jerk newbie. I have read some dos and don’ts for gun ranges but what tips do you guys have??? Thanks submitted by /u/tomlist3
Total newbie here, so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but do all guns require primers to shoot? I’m looking to get my first gun, either a rifle or a shotgun, and I want to make sure I get everything I need to shoot it. I know I’ll need the gun, ammunition, lubricant, and a cleaner of some sort. Do I need to buy primers as well? If so, how do you all find them? All the shops in my area have none in stock, and shipping is super expensive. submitted by /u/poopfartboob
I'm trying to zero my Zastava ZPAP to a 50 yard zero, using a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot. Used a rifle rest as well. I can only use an indoor range, so I was using two distances: 10 yards, and 25 yards.
