Squid Game TikTok Video Points Out What The English Subtitles Get Wrong
A TikTok video made by a Squid Game fan reveals that the series' English subtitles don't often accurately translate to their Korean meaning. Squid Game is a survival drama written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk with a stellar cast of South Korean stars, including Lee Jung-Jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-Yeon, Kim Joo-ryoung, and O Yeong-su. The story revolves around a contest where 456 players from all walks of life play a series of children's games in an attempt to win the grand prize of ₩45.6 billion (approximately $38.7 million). The cash prize may be enticing, but the players soon discover that the consequence for failing to accomplish a task is immediate death. Despite this, the competitors eagerly battle it out for various personal reasons. While its plot may be similar to other dystopian films such as Hunger Games, Squid Game is praised for its impeccable production, thrilling episodes, and complex themes that highlight economic disparities and human struggles. The Korean drama has been making waves worldwide since its debut last Sept. 17. Currently, it is poised to become Netflix's most-viewed series to date, maintaining the top spot in the U.S. and many other countries for several weeks now. Squid Game's success has bolstered Netflix's foreign programming and brought attention to other Korean dramas.
Bryan Andrews & AC Bradley Interview: Marvel's What If...? Season 1 Finale
Warning: SPOILERS for Marvel's What If...? Season 1 Finale - "What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?"Marvel's What If...? season 1 finale brought the heroes across the show's various MCU timelines to stop Ultron (Ross Marquand), who threatened to destroy the Multiverse with the Infinity Stones. In "What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?" the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) assembled the Guardians of the Multiverse, including Captain Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), T'Challa Star-Lord (Chadwick Boseman), and Black Widow (Lake Bell) to join Doctor Strange Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) and stop Ultron once and for all.Screen Rant had the pleasure to interview What If...?'s director, Bryan Andrews, and showrunner AC Bradley, about What If...?'s finale, the overall scope of season 1, what to expect from What If...? season 2, and how different Thanos was in What If...? compared to the fearsome Mad Titan in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
What If Episode 9’s Credits Scene Explained: Captain Carter's Endgame Ending
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Marvel's What if...? episode 9.Marvel’s What If…? season 1 has come to an end, and the season finale ends with a curious post-credits scene that twists Captain America’s Avengers: Endgame ending for Captain Carter. The animated MCU has been primarily composed of isolated one-off stories set in different realities of the Marvel multiverse, but episode 9 unites a team of characters from across the season to battle Ultron as the Guardians of the Multiverse. The team includes What If...?'s Star-Lord T’Challa, Killmonger, Gamora, Party Thor, Strange Supreme, and of course, Captain Carter. The character of Captain Carter is introduced in What If…? episode 1, which shows a universe where Peggy Carter, not Steve Rogers, received the original super soldier serum. In that timeline, Steve dons an Iron Man-style mech suit called the Hydra Stomper to help Peggy battle bad guys. Just like in the original Captain America movie, Captain Carter ends up getting stolen out of her time after defeating Hydra and relocated to the present day, where she joins SHIELD and continues her heroic efforts around the world.
Can House Of The Dragon Overcome Its Last Jedi Problem?
After the backlash to Game of Thrones season 8, prequel show House of the Dragon will have to overcome a problem that's similar to the one seen after Star Wars: The Last Jedi. When Game of Thrones ended in 2019, it did so as the biggest TV show in the world. Many had long expected it to go out in a blaze of glory, but instead it simply sparked fires across the internet; to say it was divisive would perhaps be an understatement, as the final run of episodes were mauled by critics and audiences alike.HBO, however, is undeterred. Even before Game of Thrones ended, ideas for spinoffs set in Westeros and beyond were being explored, which will first come to fruition with House of the Dragon. The network has major plans for this universe, with multiple projects in various stages of development, but House of the Dragon will be the initial and biggest test not only of its viability as a true franchise, but of how much it has survived the backlash.Related: House Of The Dragon Is Fixing Game Of Thrones' Iron Throne MistakeThis puts House of the Dragon in the same position the Star Wars sequel trilogy found itself in, with The Last Jedi quickly becoming one of the most divisive movies of the 21st Century. While it's not an exact parallel, given this is a prequel rather than a sequel, there are similar hurdles to overcome, and certainly mistakes to be avoided in terms of how it approaches things. When Star Wars: The Last Jedi released in 2017, it soon became one of if not the most divisive entry in the entire saga, even accounting for the much-maligned prequel trilogy (which is now looked upon more favorably). There were a range of criticisms, but at the core of them was the idea that this fundamentally misunderstood or ruined what made Star Wars and its characters so great. Luke Skywalker, the greatest hero in the galaxy, was a hermit who not only wouldn't join the fight, but had even been tempted to kill his nephew. Supreme Leader Snoke, the ostensible big bad of the sequel trilogy, was cut down without anything being revealed about his past. Rey, who many had speculated on the parentage of, turned out to be a nobody. This sparked huge ire, which remains to this day. It's easy to see the parallels in this with Game of Thrones season 8. For Luke, see Daenerys Targaryen: the great hero who has a fall many believed to be completely out of character or at least unearned. For Snoke, there's the Night King - an overarching, mysterious villain who is killed off sooner than anticipated, with little of his backstory revealed. Where there's Rey's parentage, there's Jon Snow's, as critics argue the confirmation that R+L=J did not amount to anything of significance. The major difference is that The Last Jedi's reviews were mostly positive, whereas critics and audiences both disliked Game of Thrones season 8, but that only gives House of the Dragon even more difficult because it has more to build back against. When looking at how House of the Dragon can overcome the backlash to Game of Thrones season 8, then Disney's response to Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a lesson in what not to do. With the major controversy then followed up by Solo: A Star Wars Story's box office failure, the Mouse House went into full course correct mode with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The returning J.J. Abrams brought back Emperor Palpatine, and decided to try and go against The Last Jedi. He brought back many of the elements The Last Jedi had either ignored or given answers many deemed unsatisfactory - Rey is now a Palpatine, Snoke is a clone, Luke Skywalker is a Force Ghost who does catch the lightsaber. Unfortunately, The Rise of Skywalker also ended up being a mess. It was a film so crammed full of retcons, of bringing back half-baked, long-forgotten ideas, and of fan service, as well as the sheer weight of trying to end a 40-year-old saga, that it ended up in a worst of both worlds scenario. The Last Jedi had already made things hard, but The Rise Of Skywalker ended up struggling to please either its fans or its detractors, only serving to make the backlash worse and more to Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy as a whole.Related: House Of The Dragon Trailer Hints At Connection To Night King's DeathTo that sense, House of the Dragon moving beyond Game of Thrones' own failings is perhaps an easier task. At the very least, it does not have to continue that specific story, and nor is it being challenged with wrapping-up a narrative that has been years in the making. Indeed, that was where Game of Thrones season 8 itself was charged with falling down, and so House of the Dragon does have something of a cleaner slate than any Star Wars movie coming after The Last Jedi could have had. Still, while it may be easier, that doesn't make it easy. This is a show centered around House Targaryen, which means there will likely be the looming shadow of Daenerys Targaryen's descent and death. It is still, after all, a show based on the same world as Game of Thrones, even if it is long before the likes of Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister's parents had been born, let alone them. House of the Dragon's success will depend, to some degree at least, on how much people are willing to step back into this universe after Game of Thrones' ending. It will have had the benefit of more time, with around three years by the time of House of the Dragon's 2022 release from Game of Thrones' series finale; that's a contrast to the two years between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, which also had Solo sandwiched in between. The distance should help as well. As the House of the Dragon trailer shows, this series is far removed from Game of Thrones, and so people can - perhaps - put their ill-feeling towards the finale aside. That it comes from George R.R. Martin himself is a big bonus as well. No one received more criticism for Game of Thrones season 8 than showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, neither of whom are involved with this. As Martin has already written or at least fleshed out much of the story, then there's less room for an adaptation to veer of course, and it can instead, hopefully, provide the kind of quality that made Game of Thrones so beloved in the first place. And that last point might be the most important.Despite problems with Game of Thrones season 8, it did not become a bad show because of a disappointing or divisive ending; for multiple seasons - mileage may vary on how many exactly - it was and still is one of the greatest TV shows produced, with a level of scale and spectacle hardly ever seen, but that is matched step-for-step by its writing, performances, and every other area. That's the kind of thing people should come to remember, especially as time goes on, wounds heal, and rewatches begin, and which stands House of the Dragon in good stead. This is not a course correction for a hated property that needs to be fixed, but a prequel to an excellent show, that is also very much its own thing and should be judged on its own merits.Next: House Of The Dragon Trailer Breakdown: 17 Story Reveals & Secrets
Why James Bond Is So Popular After 60 Years
With No Time To Die already a blockbuster at the global box office, James Bond continues to be incredibly popular after 60 years. Created by Ian Fleming, who wrote 15 novels and several short stories about secret agent 007, James Bond was already well-known when EON Productions released the first Bond movie, Dr. No starring Sean Connery, in 1961. Since then, James Bond has become the longest-running movie franchise in history, and the British spy's popularity continues unabated.James Bond was conceived as a product of his era; the character was born in the 1950s from Ian Fleming's experiences as a naval intelligence officer during World War II. When Sean Connery first played 007 in the 1960s, he was an idealized man of his time: suave, irresistible to the opposite sex, but also ruthless and unafraid to use his license to kill as he saw fit. Connery set the mold for all of the James Bond actors who followed him but each one added to the mythos and to the character. George Lazenby was more laid back than Connery while Roger Moore played up his comedic charms for his seven films as James Bond from 1973-1985. Timothy Dalton brought back Bond's grit for the action hero era of the 1980s while Pierce Brosnan combined his predecessors into a fusion of wit, sophistication, and violence as a world-saving hero.
James Bond Producers Defend Quantum of Solace
James Bond producers defend maligned series entry Quantum of Solace. The direct sequel to 2006’s Casino Royale found Daniel Craig’s 007 out for revenge after the death of his lover Vesper Lynd.Unfortunately while Casino Royale was almost universally praised, Quantum of Solace found itself being battered by critics and Bond fans alike, and is now the consensus pick for worst movie of the Craig era of Bond. Indeed Craig himself recently talked about the disappointing Casino Royale follow-up, calling the process of making it a “s—tshow.” Thankfully the Bond series would recover with the critically praised blockbuster Skyfall, followed by the financially successful Spectre.Quantum of Solace may be something of a black sheep among Craig-era James Bond films but not everyone is lining up to bash the movie. In fact, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson recently spoke up to defend the work, explaining to /Film why they think the movie is an important one in the development of Craig’s Bond portrayal. Broccoli said:
New 'Arids' Meteor Shower To Make First Ever Appearance Tomorrow
Watching any meteor shower can be loads of fun, and thanks to the incoming 'Arids' shower, some people will have a spectacular opportunity to watch it make its first ever appearance on Earth. It's no secret that outer space is one of the most fascinating things around. It's a never-ending canvas of mystery and wonder. Whether it be planets in our own Solar System or galaxies millions of light-years away, there's always something new to learn about the great beyond. While deep space and research have to be left to the professionals, that's not to say the rest of us can't also make our own observations. A prime example of this is meteor showers. Throughout the year, numerous asteroids and meteorites hurtle through space, get sucked into Earth's atmosphere, and soar through the sky. If someone is in the right place at the right time, they can see these visiting space rocks with their very own eyes. Some are easy to miss, others are jaw-dropping, and there are multiple chances to see one for yourself.
Is WoW Worth Playing In 2021
Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available. Is World of Warcraft still worth playing in 2021? Blizzard's long-running MMORPG has certainly gotten up there in age, but the commitment to making changes to improve the game's overall experience, including the approach of Patch 9.1.5 for Shadowlands, has meant playing the game in 2021 is still worthwhile. In fact, the MMORPG seems to keep getting better - and, considering the last several years for context, it's definitely possible that Shadowlands is at least the game's best showing in its modern era, even with all the recent controversies surrounding Blizzard.Answering whether or not World of Warcraft is worth playing can be difficult since the answer varies so dramatically based on what players want. With that said, those looking for hyper-specific, niche benefits to playing may not always find what they're looking for, even if the general consensus surrounding the MMO's overall gameplay is positive. There were plenty of players who enjoyed Warlords of Draenor, after all, despite that expansion's less-than-stellar reputation within the game's larger community. Ignoring the fact that there will inevitably be no unified opinion, however, the question of "is World of Warcraft worth playing in 2021?" can be broken down into two separate responses: one detailing whether new players will enjoy it, and one discussing the experience of returning veterans.
Pokémon Universal Studios Japan Partnership Announced
Universal Studios Japan has announced a partnership with The Pokémon Company for a mysterious new virtual reality experience. Nintendo currently has an attraction at Universal Studios Japan called Super Nintendo World, with plans to branch out to Universal's Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore locations by 2025. Unfortunately, these plans have been hindered by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which also forced Super Nintendo World to temporarily close its doors less than a month after its grand opening back in March. So far, Super Nintendo World’s rides and attractions have been primarily focused around Mario, with attendees riding the interactive Mario Kart rollercoaster, dining at the Toad Café, unlock exclusive Miitopia character costumes with special interactive wristbands, and even making pleasant conversation with fully-voiced characters like Princess Peach. However, there are plans for Super Nintendo World to branch out into non-Mario Nintendo franchises in the future, as evidenced by an upcoming Super Nintendo World Donkey Kong expansion based around the equally iconic character. Now, it looks like Pokémon could be joining the theme park fun soon, though it’s too early to tell.
Dead Cells Creator's New Game Nuclear Blaze Lets You Save Cats
Nuclear Blaze is an upcoming 2D action platformer that puts players in the role of a firefighter tasked with putting out radioactive flames - and rescuing cute cats along the way. It is being developed by Deepnight Games, who impressed gamers with 2017’s corpse-possessing roguelike Dead Cells. Dead Cells would go on to inspire plenty of indie Metroid-like titles such as last year’s Forgone, and a DLC expansion subtitled Fatal Falls was released back in January.Last month, Deepnight announced its newest 2D side-scrolling adventure Nuclear Blaze, which is currently set to launch on Steam on October 18. As a firefighter who is airdropped inside a secret underground military facility, players will have to explore Metroid-style levels as they work to extinguish constantly spreading fires by aiming their trusty fire hose in any direction they please, investigate the source of the ongoing inferno, and even engage in the time-honored firefighter’s tradition of rescuing cats. Nuclear Blaze features the smooth controls of Dead Cells (as designed by former Motion Twin associate Sébastien Benard), a designated “Kid Mode” for younger players, and multiple unique levels packed with hidden secrets and side-stories as players unravel the mystery behind the shady military complex.Related: Dead Cells: Practice Makes Perfect Guide (Everything You Need To Know)Nuclear Blaze looks to be a fun take on the classic Metroidvania formula of exploring large maze-like dungeons packed with hidden secrets and Easter Eggs. This formula can also be seen in the critically acclaimed Metroid Dread, which will release on October 8th. Firefighting is a relatively unexplored profession among recent video games save for a few simulators, so this title will hopefully stand out from the Metroidvania crowd. Players will be able to strap on their fire hoses, put out a few loose flames and even rescue some adorable kitties when Nuclear Blaze launches on Steam on October 18.Next: Roguelike vs. Roguelite: What's the Difference?Source: Deepnight Games, Steam
Wolverine Can't Escape Reliving His Most Iconic Death
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Inferno #1In Marvel Comics' new Inferno event, the X-Men's Wolverine can't escape reliving one of his most iconic deaths over and over again. The anti-mutant organization Orchis has grown too powerful with the return of the Sentinel Nimrod, though there's been very little the mutants of Krakoa have been able to do to stop them. While the island nation has been continually sending teams to try and destroy Orchis, none have been successful despite resurrecting and sending the same mutants with each attempt. This includes Wolverine, who's been stuck in a brutal loop experiencing one of his most brutal deaths multiple times over.In this first issue of Inferno from Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti, it's revealed that Krakoa has already tried sixteen times to destroy Orchis and Nimrod using a variety of means. While a few attempts have involved hiring assassins and sending the alien Brood to do the job, the majority have been the deployment of the same mutants over and over again. However, no matter what they've tried everything has failed. Nimrod has proven to be too powerful, able to counter all kinds of abilities and destroying the mutant teams with extreme prejudice. While Wolverine has been a part of the X-Force teams sent with every resurrection, the end result has never been pretty.Related: The Avengers Make Wolverine A Better Hero Than The X-MenInferno #1 depicts Krakoa's sixteenth attempt, seeing Nimrod defeating Domino, Omega Kid, and Wolverine as he's apparently done several times before. However, Nimrod sears all of the flesh from Wolverine's adamantium-covered bones, a nod to Logan's most famous death by Sentinel as seen in Days of Future Past. Furthermore, as Orchis reviews the footage of this latest incursion, it's revealed that they've been collecting Wolverine's skeletons of which they now have several thanks to Logan's vicious cycle of resurrection after continually experiencing one of the worst ways he's ever gone out in Marvel Comics' past. While Krakoa has a store of adamantium they've been using to regraft the metal to Wolverine's skeleton whenever he needs to be resurrected, they must be running low of the nearly indestructible and rare metal. Logan's past skeletons continue to fall into Orchis' hands, and there's no telling what they might do with them going forward. It's certainly possible that it could all come back to haunt the former Weapon X with the upcoming X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine event. Perhaps Orchis finds a way to weaponize the adamantium skeletons down the line, forcing Wolverine to fight elements of his own past selves. In any case, it's going to be interesting to see where Krakoa goes from here. Seeing as how the resurrected mutants have no memory of the incursions, it looks as though they're going to keep trying until they succeed (despite their inability to learn and adapt from their mistakes). All Krakoa knows is that Nimrod is back online and Orchis must be destroyed. As such, Wolverine seems determined to stop them at all costs, even if it means continually reliving one of his worst deaths ever.More: The X-Men's Best Fastball Special Didn't Involve Wolverine
Transformers 7 First Image Reveals Gen-1 Autobots & Decepticons
The first image of the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts designs for the G-1 Autobots and Decepticons has been revealed. The Transformers live-action films, adapted from the cartoon and toy line of the same name, began in 2007 with the Michael Bay Transformers starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Rise of the Beasts, which is currently filming, is the seventh film in the franchise, including the successful 2018 spin-off film Bumblebee. The film was written by Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters and is directed by Steven Caple Jr., who previously helmed Creed II.The film is based on Transformers: Beast Wars, the cartoon series from the '90s. It's a prequel that will introduce several new characters to the live-action universe, including Rhinox and the "beast mode" Optimus Primal, a captain of the Maximals. Other beloved characters like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime will also be appearing. Rise of the Beasts will also explore how Optimus Prime became devoted to protecting humanity.Related: How Transformers 7 Is Already Making Optimus Prime Much BetterOn his Instagram, Steven Caple Jr. posted a first-look image of the designs for the first-generation Transformers. The first image displays the Autobots, decked out in pastels with retro designs, looking not dissimilar to vehicles James Bond would have driven back in the day. The second image shows the Decepticons looking menacing with more muted, militaristic colors. Indeed, one design looks almost exactly like the evil truck in Steven Spielberg's Duel. Check out the images below:Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set about seven years after the events of Bumblebee and follows two archaeologists who get mixed up in a war between the Maximals, the Predacons, and the Terrorcons. It's set in Brooklyn and parts of Peru, including Machu Picchu, as revealed in the Instagram post. The film will star Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, Tobe Nwigwe, and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal. Transformers 7 will storm theaters on June 24, 2022.This new glimpse at the Autobots and Decepticons continues the trend of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts pushing for more accurate interpretations of the original Transformers from the animated series. Caple focuses on brighter, poppier colors and sleek designs over the complicated CGI-laden work the Michael Bay films were known for. This is also in line with the style of Bumblebee, the more stripped-down tale that Rise of the Beasts directly follows on the Transformers timeline.Next: Transformers 7: Why A Beast Wars Movie Is What The Brand NeedsSource: Steven Caple Jr./Instagram
Top Chef: Padma Lakshmi & Gail Simmons Lead Women's March In Houston
Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons, host and judge of Bravo's Top Chef, took to the streets of Houston on a rainy Saturday as part of a mass nationwide women's march in protest of Texas' restrictive abortion law. Top Chef season 19 is currently filming in Houston, their second time in the Lone Star State in more than a decade, formerly filming in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. The new season will feature a panel of all-star judges made up of former Top Chef contestants, and Padma and Gail will be joined by judge and chef Tom Colicchio. The abortion law by the State of Texas has been a controversial topic that has sparked the attention of celebrities and even the federal government. Senate Bill 8 (SB 8), as it is formerly known, outlaws abortions after six weeks of pregnancy with no further leniencies in instances of rape or incest. Some shows have decided not to film in Texas, including an upcoming show from the creator of The Wire. As of September 9, the Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the State of Texas to prevent them from enforcing Senate Bill 8, claiming it violates the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.Related: What To Know About The Winner ControTop Chef: versy And Harassment ClaimsThe Women's March was held in major cities on Saturday, including Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Houston, where Top Chef's Padma and Gail led a large group of women shouting, "Our body, our choice!" in the march to City Hall. The duo took a break from filming to be a part of the protest, where they not only participated in the march but also spoke to a large audience. As reported by Houston's local news outlet, CHRON, Padma recalled her own personal experiences where her mother had to have an abortion at Planned Parenthood after sustaining severe injuries from a car accident. "At that time, not only could my parents not afford another child, but her body could not physically sustain another pregnancy," she said. "It's out of love for me that they made the difficult decision to do what was right for our family and it's out of love for my mother and all families that I stand here today, ready to fight." Padma also revealed that she was raped when she was 16 years old. "My only saving grace was that I didn't become pregnant," she said. "I know how sexual violence can make people feel powerless, and this bill is a knife in the heart to those very same people."Gail shared that she had mixed feelings about filming the upcoming season of Top Chef in Houston due not only to the passing of SB 8 but also Texas' voting rights restrictions. However, she told the crowd that the people of Houston's stance on the bill contradicted that of the state's, and it was important to recognize that. "I know that Houston is a deeply diverse and vibrant place," said Gail. "I know that my beloved restaurant industry, let alone the women of Houston and all of Texas, need our support now more than ever and that personally choosing to back out of coming here would only serve to hurt the local people and the local economies that I set out in my career to uplift and stand behind."Padma and Gail didn't come to Houston just to film Top Chef. These strong women used their voices to call upon local and national governments to stop SB 8 and to call out the Governor of Texas. The women were bringing the heat to the Women's March and calling on the state officials to pack their knives and go.Next: EPs Explains How Top Chef Amateurs Celebrates The History Of Top ChefSource: CHRON
90 Day Fiancé: Steven Called Out For Being Mean To Animals In Turkey
Steven Johnston from 90 Day Fiancé did a companionship inventory with Russian girlfriend Alina in Turkey, and the way he shooed a dog away was his biggest red flag yet to many fans. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode 6 saw Steven dropping one bombshell confession after another to Alina. Not only did Steven reveal that he wasn’t a virgin, but he also came clean about him cheating on her with several girls despite warnings. How To Find Lost AirPods Pro & Max Using New 'Find My' Features
Apple has released a firmware update for the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max that opens up new 'Find My' possibilities. Losing one or both of the relatively small earbuds can be easy to do and happens often. Losing AirPods Max is a bit harder, but when tucked in a bag or if they've slipped behind a cushion that can occur. Worse, if lost when away from home or the office, tracking down AirPods becomes more of an urgent challenge. Whichever gremlin causes the problem, it will be easier to locate them with the new firmware.AirPods have always had the ability to be found via 'Find My Device' in the Find My app. However, as this tended to simply show a map location and play a sound, it isn't quite as robust as the AirTag or Bluetooth beacons. AirTag is Apple's newest item location tracker. A small round tag about the size of a bottle cap, AirTag features Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology along with a speaker, resulting in a wide range of tracking possibilities.

Mark Zuckerberg hits back at Facebook whistleblower claims
Frances Haugen’s testimony that social networking company puts profit before people ‘just not true’Mark Zuckerberg has hit back at the testimony of the Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, saying her claims the company puts profit over people’s safety are “just not true”.In a blogpost, the Facebook founder and chief executive addressed one of the most damaging statements in Haugen’s opening speech to US senators on Tuesday, that Facebook puts “astronomical profits before people”.“At the heart of these accusations is this idea that we prioritise profit over safety and wellbeing. That’s just not true,” he said.He added: “The argument that we deliberately push content that makes people angry for profit is deeply illogical. We make money from ads, and advertisers consistently tell us they don’t want their ads next to harmful or angry content.”Zuckerberg said many of the claims made by Haugen – and in the Wall Street Journal, based on documents she leaked – “don’t make any sense”. The most damaging reporting in the WSJ, reiterated at length by Haugen in testimony to the US Senate on Tuesday, was that Facebook failed to act on internal research showing that its Instagram app was damaging teenagers’ mental health.“Many of the claims don’t make any sense. If we wanted to ignore research, why would we create an industry-leading research program to understand these important issues in the first place?” he said.Responding to Haugen’s claims that Facebook’s attempts to limit harmful content were constantly hampered by a shortage of staff, he said: “If we didn’t care about fighting harmful content, then why would we employ so many more people dedicated to this than any other company in our space – even ones larger than us? If we wanted to hide our results, why would we have established an industry-leading standard for transparency and reporting on what we’re doing?”Haugen’s testimony, and accompanying statements by US senators in the hearing, repeatedly questioned whether Facebook could be trusted. “Facebook has not earned a right to just have blind trust in them,” said Haugen, a former Facebook employee who worked on the company’s unit monitoring electoral interference before she quit in May.Zuckerberg said a change to Facebook’s News Feed algorithm in 2018 was implemented because it increased wellbeing. According to Haugen, internal Facebook research showed that the change to News Feed – a customised scroll of content that is a core part of Facebook users’ interaction with the platform – had amplified divisive content.Zuckerberg said: “This change showed fewer viral videos and more content from friends and family – which we did knowing it would mean people spent less time on Facebook, but that research suggested it was the right thing for people’s wellbeing. Is that something a company focused on profits over people would do?”Addressing company staff in the Facebook post, made late on Tuesday, Zuckerberg said he expected many employees would not recognise the business portrayed in the WSJ coverage and Haugen’s testimony.“I’m sure many of you have found the recent coverage hard to read because it just doesn’t reflect the company we know,” he wrote. “We care deeply about issues like safety, wellbeing and mental health. It’s difficult to see coverage that misrepresents our work and our motives. At the most basic level, I think most of us just don’t recognize the false picture of the company that is being painted.”Zuckerberg opened the post with a reference to Monday’s platform outage when the company’s services – including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms – went offline for nearly six hours. Facebook has 3.5 billion monthly active users across its platforms including Instagram and WhatsApp.“The deeper concern with an outage like this isn’t how many people switch to competitive services or how much money we lose, but what it means for the people who rely on our services to communicate with loved ones, run their businesses, or support their communities,” he said.

Sweden to give 12-15 year olds Pfizer vaccine, rejects Moderna
The European Medicines Agency approved the use of Comirnaty in May, while Spikevax was given the nod for children over 12 in JulySTOCKHOLM: Sweden's Public Health Agency said on Monday it recommended the use of Pfizer-BioNTech's , Comirnaty vaccine against COVID-19 for children between 12-15, opting against rival Moderna's Spikevax. The European Medicines Agency approved the use of Comirnaty in May, while Spikevax was given the nod for children over 12 in July. "All in all, we see reason to choose the vaccine that we know the most about and that is most well-proven when it comes to vaccinating children between 12 and 15 years of age," Anders Tegnell, head of department and state epidemiologist at the Health Agency said. The agency said there was more data about Comirnaty's use on children. "That's why Spikevax is not recommended for the youngest age group in Sweden," the Agency said in a statement. In September, the Agency said that children aged 12 and over would be offered a COVID vaccination starting October 11.
Money Heist Season 5: What Happened To The Professor?
The Professor has gone missing in a trailer for the final season of Money Heist, and there are a few likely possibilities for his whereabouts. In a trailer for the Money Heist final season, the Professor has gone missing, and there are a few options for his whereabouts. In the first look at Money Heist season 5, part 2, also known as La Casa de Papel, Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), Palmero (Rodrigo de la Serna), Denver (Jaime Lorente), and the rest of the gang contemplate the Professor's (Álvaro Morte) disappearance and what to do with their melted gold inside the Bank of Spain. Palmero wants to get the gold out, but the others don't seem sure, thinking the police could be privy to the escape route. Unfortunately, Palmero isn't interested in "democracy" and insists their scheme goes ahead as planned. The first part of Money Heist season 5 included several shocking twists and lingering questions. Inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) captures the Professor in the season 5 premiere, but her pregnancy changes her plans. She eventually lets the Professor go to help deliver her baby, leaving her allegiance to the Professor or her government up in the air. Additionally, Money Heist seemingly killed off a significant character in the first part of its final season. However, the true fate of the individual could still be a mystery. The Professor's disappearance is surprising in the Money Heist trailer. Lisbon hears about the Professor's disappearance off-camera (or he doesn't respond to her call), and then she delivers the news matter-of-factly in the season 5 video. According to her, the Professor is missing, and the big question is what to do with the gold. While the others looked shocked, Denver is the only one who speaks up, questioning where the professor could've gone. However, Lisbon offers no solid explanations. Though the Professor's disappearance is odd, there could be an obvious reason.

Back 4 Blood Devs Add Controversial Denuvo Software Before Launch
Developer Turtle Rock Studios has recently decided to add the controversial Denuvo Anti-Tamper software to its upcoming title, Back 4 Blood. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the highly popular Valve title Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood is a four-player co-op survival shooter that aims to put zombies back onto players’ crosshairs.Created by Turtle Rock Studios, the same developers behind Left 4 Dead, the zombie shooter has garnered strong interest from fans, with the title hitting over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam alone during its open beta. While Back 4 Blood includes a campaign mode familiar to fans of Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios has insisted that its upcoming title will differ in many ways, adding a currency system and an in-game shop. The game will also feature a deck building mechanic, with which players can collect cards and utilize them to grant bonuses during matches.Related: Back 4 Blood Won't Have Left 4 Dead's Versus CampaignsAs reported by PCGamesN, the developers behind Back 4 Blood updated the game’s Steam page in late September to reflect that the title would be released with the controversial third-party digital rights management software, Denuvo. The anti-piracy software’s inclusion in games has often prompted a largely negative response from fans in the past, due to its tendency to negatively affect a game’s performance. However, this is not always the case, with id Software’s Doom Eternal having received high praises from fans and critics alike for its excellent optimization and performance on PC, despite utilizing Denuvo’s DRM software. The inclusion of the controversial software in the recently released Deathloop greatly angered its fans, with many blaming Denuvo for the game’s stuttering frame rates on PC. Upset players decided to vent their frustrations by review bombing Deathloop on Steam, calling on developer Arkane Studios to fix the game’s performance problems by removing the DRM software. While the stuttering glitch has been partially fixed during a recent patch, Arkane did not mention if the issues were tied to its use of Denuvo.Considering Back 4 Blood exceeded 5.6 million players during its beta in August, the game may be in store for a sizable backlash from its fans should any issues arise regarding its performance. Due the fast paced nature of Back 4 Blood, any performance issues would greatly hinder a player’s experience. However, developers have been known in the past to remove Denuvo from their games due to negative reactions from fans, thus its inclusion in Back 4 Blood may not be entirely set in stone.Next: How Back 4 Blood's Deckbuilding Makes Each Round DifferentBack 4 Blood will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 12.Source: PCGamesN
Seinfeld's Loni Anderson Reference Explained: Who Is She?
Seinfeld season 1 makes a reference to actress Loni Anderson, but who is she? Despite originally signing off the air in 1998, the classic sitcom has gone on to earn a new generation of fans thanks to syndication. One of the reasons why Seinfeld has endured for so long is because for the most part, the humor and jokes are essentially timeless, putting the characters in situations that are relatable and funny regardless of when the episodes are watched. That's part of what makes Seinfeld such an influential TV show.Of course, Seinfeld is still a product of the time it was made, meaning some of the pop culture references that landed with 1990s audiences may not resonate as much with younger viewers today. One such example took place early in Seinfeld season 1 in the episode "The Stake Out," during a scene where Jerry's parents are bemoaning his current relationship status. Advising their son to not be too particular, Jerry's father Morty jokingly asks if Jerry is waiting for Loni Anderson. It was a funny line when "The Stake Out" premiered, but may now go over modern viewers' heads.

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, King Richard is set to have quite a bit of awards buzz around it, as many inspirational biopics often do. Green reunites with lead actor Will Smith, having directed the 2018 Netflix documentary series Amend: The Fight For America, which Smith hosted. As well as Amend, Green also directed three episodes of the popular British crime series Top Boy, and his feature film debut Monsters and Men starred John David Washington and was received well by critics in 2019.

Natalie Mordovtseva and Big Ed Brown will be starring in the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff 90 Day: The Single Life with other confirmed cast members Stephanie Matto, Debbie Johnson, and Syngin Colchester. Seven singles are supposed to be a part of the Discovery+ show, including the two unannounced names from different 90 Day Fiancé relationships that spark a romance after having broken up with their respective American exes. Meanwhile, the addition of Big Ed, now engaged to former girlfriend Liz Woods and Natalie, who's been spotted with a mystery man after separating from Mike Youngquist, isn’t really a surprise to fans following their recent antics.YouTuber Stephanie was the first name that was officially revealed. Stephanie, often accused of faking her bisexuality, confessed she’ll be dating both men and women on The Single Life. Colt Johnson’s mother, Debbie, was perhaps the most shocking person on the list. The Las Vegas resident is back in the dating game 13 years after she lost Colt’s father to an apparent heart attack. South African man Syngin and his wife Tania Maduro kept going around in circles with their relationship status. However, fans have heard rumors of their breakup and him having a new girlfriend. But Syngin’s name was announced by 90 Day Fiancé not too long after Tania finally confirmed their split. The 90 Day Fiancé season 7 couple Tania and Syngin still appear to be good friends, but the same cannot be said about Natalie and Mike. Ukrainian actress Natalie has been accused of acting thirsty on social media after Mike went official with his girlfriend Marcia “Brazil” Alves.
Apple Watch Series 7 Pre-Orders: Where & When To Order One
Apple recently announced that its new Apple Watch Series 7 will be available to pre-order soon and there is reason to believe that it could sell out quickly, due to short supplies. The Apple Watch Series 7 features a bigger display than ever and, with a faster processor and swipe keyboard, it’s the best version of a smartwatch to come from the company to date.Earlier rumors that Apple Watch orders might be delayed were proven true as Apple announced its new wearable nearly one a month ago, but only recently shared when it will become available to order. These same production delays could mean that there hasn’t been enough time for a full shipment. While leaks about a new flat-edged design were way off base, at least this year, the Series 7 does have a significant design change. The front crystal is rounder, which provides greater structural strength, in the same way that a domed roof in a stadium can span greater distances and support more weight.
Star Wars: Visions Understands The Force Better Than The Sequel Trilogy
Disney+'s Star Wars: Visions told a series of beautifully written and animated Star Wars short films, which, in some cases, understood the Force better than the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Visions exists outside of Star Wars canon, telling nine original, standalone, stories that can reimagine or adhere to established Star Wars lore as they please. The sequels are part of the official and ongoing Star Wars canon universe, which began in 2014 and includes the original six films in addition to the sequel trilogy and spinoff movies. The sequel trilogy films were highly anticipated by new and longtime fans, and while the first film was a crowd-pleaser, the following two were divisive, particularly in regards to their depiction of the Force. In the original trilogy films, the Force was shown to be a fundamental and omnipresent energy field that life creates. While some individuals can have a natural aptitude for using the Force, anybody could learn to use it with training and discipline. The dark side was an addictive and destructive perversion of the Force, which seduced Force users to take a quicker path to power, but ultimately ruined them. Despite the seeming moral absolutes of the Force and its dark side, the original trilogy, especially through Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, told an ethically nuanced and complex story about a son trying to rescue his father from the dark side.

The news comes alongside the reveal of a new free-to-play shooter, expanding the Tom Clancy series once again. The Ghost Recon series is one of Ubisoft's most popular, beginning with 2001's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. The series' last entry came with 2019's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which was poorly received by players due to microtransactions, a lackluster story, and bugs. This year the franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary with the announcement of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Frontline, which is shaping up to be one of the biggest games in the series to date. Fans will be pitted against each other in huge-scale matches, with PvP gameplay focused on strategy. House Of The Dragon Is Fixing Game Of Thrones' Iron Throne Mistake
The House of the Dragon trailer reveals that it is fixing Game of Thrones' Iron Throne mistake. The trailer shows a number of brief clips from the greatly-anticipated prequel series by HBO, one of which is a shot of the iconic metal seat — but looking quite different to the version audiences saw in the original show. The new throne is much wider, splaying out across the steps leading up to it, with sword points jutting out from the molten metal like the teeth of a dragon. Even the central chair is larger, more jagged, and far more imposing. The Iron Throne is the central seat of power in Game of Thrones' Westeros. Created for Aegon Targaryen after conquering the six kingdoms, the metal throne is said to be forged with dragon fire from the thousand swords of his enemies. The books by George R. R. Martin describe the chair as being huge and unsightly with steep metal steps leading up to the seat that was so dangerous, rulers couldn't lean back against the sharp blades. The throne in HBO's Game of Thrones, however, is much smaller than described, a hunk of molten steel sitting atop a short stone pedestal, as many sword hilts as blades decorating the backrest.
Shameless: How Old The Characters Are At The Beginning And End Of The Show
With all the anarchy in the Gallagher household, it can be difficult to keep track of how old the characters in Shameless are from the beginning to the end of the show. When the comedy-drama series debuted on Showtime in 2011, all of the Gallagher kids (except for Fiona) were still minors. By the time the series wrapped up with the season 11 finale in the spring of 2021, all except Liam are adults with jobs and - in some cases - kids of their own.Monica Gallagher had six children altogether before walking out on the family and leaving Fiona to take on the brunt of the parenting (even more so than she already had). In a rant in season 1, Frank helpfully spells out the age differences between the kids, saying that Monica left when Fiona was 14, Lip was 11, Ian was 10, Debbie was seven, Carl was five, and Liam was four months old. Of course, this being Frank, there's probably some room for error in his calculation of the kids' ages. Other clues in the show indicate that Fiona is actually around five years older than Lip, not three.
No Time To Die: Opening Credits Explained
Warning: Major spoilers ahead for No Time To DieThe No Time To Die signal the end of Daniel Craig's time as James Bond for one final adventure. The movie is the 25 official James Bond film and the 5 movie for Craig’s interpretation of the character over a 15 year period. Like every Bond movie to date, the new film features an elaborate and highly stylized opening sequence that foreshadows much of what's to follow. Just as with all its predecessors, No Time To Die's credits have a lot to unpack.Dating back to Bond’s cinematic debut in 1962’s Dr. No (where there was a flurry of multi-colored dots flashing on the screen while the Bond theme played), the opening credits set the tone for the film. They are just as important fixtures for the James Bond franchise as the Gunbarrel or the title song that plays over them. Designer Maurice Binder was responsible for title sequences for 16 of the first 17 Bond films before Daniel Kleinman took over for Goldeneye onwards (with the exception of Quantum of Solace). Unsurprisingly, No Time To Die carries on the tradition.
Simpsons Fan Comic SPRINGFIGHT! is Manga-Style Fighting Tournament
Ever since The Simpsons first aired in 1989 it has stolen the hearts of families around the world, with years of adventures springing from its initial inception. Most new Simpsons storylines exist within the main canon of the television show, or offshoots from creator Matt Groening in some form or fashion such as movies or video games. However, The Simpsons has also inspired a number of fan-produced content, including a new manga-style fighting adventure in the form of a new webcomic that has taken Twitter by storm.SPRINGFIGHT! a Simpsons fan comic released by Joe Chouinard is a five-part webcomic posted on Twitter that brings the comedy fans have come to expect from The Simpsons and adds manga-style action. In the beginning, fans are told that Mr. Burns has died and his will states that his immense wealth will be left to the winner of a town-wide fighting tournament. All the regular Simpsons characters and side characters are participating, fighting each other much like characters in a Dragon Ball manga would, all for a chance at a grand fortune. As many familiar faces rise and fall on the panel, one man stands above the rest, and that man is none other than Homer Simpson.
Fortnite Season 8 Leak Suggests Mechs Are Returning |
Dataminers have seemingly uncovered plans by Epic Games to bring mechs back into Fortnite for the end of the currently running Season 8. Titanfall-style Mechs were first introduced to Fortnite more than two years ago, but their run in the online battle royale was short-lived due to many issues which eventually caused Epic to pull them from Fortnite altogether. The B.R.U.T.E. was part of 2019's Fortnite Season 1,0 and it quickly developed a bad reputation among players due to how unbalanced it ended up being. Epic Games tried to keep the B.R.U.T.E. in Fortnitethrough a series of minor tweaks, however the developer's efforts proved to be not enough, as players went so far as to start a #RemoveTheMech trend on Twitter. Some even changed tactics in-game, deciding to work together to destroy the machines as soon they spawned. Mechs were removed the same month they were introduced and they have not been seen in Fortnite since... until now, it seems.
Many Saints Of Newark: Is Harold In The Sopranos?
Warning! SPOILERS for The Many Saints Of NewarkIn The Many Saints of Newark, Harold McBrayer (Leslie Odom Jr.) has a commanding presence throughout the story as Dickie Moltisanti's (Alessandro Nivaro) increasingly troublesome frenemy -- but is Harold in the original Sopranos HBO TV show? As a pivotal character in the events portrayed in The Many Saints of Newark, his future activities between the prequel movie and the hit TV show of the 2000's naturally draw intrigue, as it's made clear at the end of the film that Harold not only survives but seems to be on the rise in the world of organized crime.During the introduction of Harold's character, it's clear that there's history between Harold and Dickie, the leading mobster protagonist of The Many Saints of Newark. Throughout the movie, especially as racial tensions reach a boiling point in '60s and '70s New Jersey, Harold goes from being one of Dickie's close associates to a rival mob boss -- one who takes out several of Dickie's fellow mobsters and henchmen while also having an affair with Dickie's Italian mistress. No doubt, the schism between Harold and Dickie is intended to represent a greater shift between white and black America following the culture-shifting Civil Rights Movements of the '60s. With the reconfiguration of polite society, regarding new attitudes towards race, also comes a reconfiguration of the criminal underworld, as manifested in Harold and Dickie's violent arch-rivalry.

Squid Game Season 2 Update Teased By Netflix
Netflix has released an update on the status of Squid Game season 2, commenting on the chances and timeline for the smash-hit Korean series getting a second chapter. While Netflix has had significant international success in the past with non-English shows like Lupin and Money Heist, nothing has compared to Squid Game, which is set to become the streamer’s biggest series ever. That level of success would seem to demand a Squid Game season 2, but will it happen? The end of Squid Game season 1 certainly leaves enough loose ends hanging to generate more story in a potential Squid Game season 2. Much of the lore and history surrounding the deadly competition is left shrouded in mystery, leaving some major storylines open for continuation in the future. However, Squid Game’s unprecedented popularity on Netflix couldn’t possibly have been anticipated, so the plan for the franchise’s future surely looks quite different now than it did when Squid Game first aired.

10 Best Slasher Movie Costumes Of All Time, Ranked
When creating an iconic horror villain who always seems to cheat death, one of the biggest things to consider is how they will look. A mask and a sharp knife are good, but sometimes the situation calls for something more.

Tabletop RPGs That Are Easy To Play Through Text Messages
Online roleplaying has surged in popularity over the past year and a half, with some tabletop gamers using virtual tabletop sites like Roll20 to play classic RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. However, others have started participating in narrative "Play By Post" RPGs on forums and chat clients like Discord. The RPG systems below are particularly good choices for players who want to participate in a roleplaying game session through written text messages and narrative vignettes. The big advantage of text-based adventure games and RPG campaigns is that players don't have to worry about scheduling game sessions and instead post irregular updates inside the game's chat room or on its forum page. On the downside, "Play By Post" RPG campaigns are frequently slow-paced, and can even grind to a halt if one or more players forgets to post or fails to see an update. To keep the plot dynamic and interesting, both players and GMs need to make sure the "entries" they type are concise, grammatically legible, and give other players chances to respond and embellish.
How to Fight a Mock Battle in The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War
Fighting battles are a major part of The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War, but, oddly enough, so are mock battles. Why would anyone want to fight mock battles when there are so many real battles to be fought? Mock battles don’t allow players to conquer more territory in The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War, which is crucial in this geostrategic seasonal wargame.Mock battles serve a very specific function within The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War. Just like in real life, armies can engage in mock battles as practice for the real thing. It makes them more effective. Specifically, it makes the commanders in The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War gain XP. Knowing when to start a mock battle will help players be more effective when real battles come.
