The Edmonton Oilers will be without center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for six-to-eight weeks, the club announced Tuesday.

Nugent-Hopkins suffered an apparent hand injury Monday upon blocking a shot in a win over Florida.

With Connor McDavid not yet ready to return from his lengthy stint on injured reserve, the rest of the roster will need to step up, including young Leon Draisaitl.

Even with a healthy Nugent-Hopkins and after Monday's win, the Oilers sit in last place in the Pacific Division, five point up on the 30th-place Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 22-year-old center had scored eight goals and added 22 assists in 46 games.
