The Ottawa Senators are finally letting Mikael Wikstrand play hockey.

Wikstrand was loaned to Farjestad of the Swedish Hockey League on Wednesday.

The Senators have been in a tug-of-war with the 6-foot-2, 176-pound defensive prospect since he returned to Sweden against the club's wishes. Ottawa blocked him from joining Farjestad and even held firm after he revealed that his desire to return home stemmed from an illness in his family.

Player and team have clearly rectified the situation, but Wikstrand, who recorded five goals and 20 points in 46 games last season in Sweden's top division, has lost a half-season of development because of the lengthy standoff.
