Joffrey Lupul knows a thing or two about season-derailing slumps.

The Toronto Maple Leafs winger - who's mired in a personally horrific season by any measure, having amassed just 10 goals and three assists in 40 games - was asked about the Montreal Canadiens' struggles ahead of Saturday's matchup between the historic rivals, and he pulled no punches.

Joffrey Lupul says a slump can snowball quickly in a town like MTL. Then added: "I'd like to say I feel bad, but it's the Habs. So I don't."

Toronto went 1-11-13 in January 2015, averaging only 1.23 goals per game, so Lupul knows a lot about that snowball he's referring to.

Montreal opened 2016 with a big road win over Boston at the Winter Classic, but has dropped five straight. After the Pittsburgh Penguins' win Saturday, the Canadiens sit three points back of Sidney Crosby and co. in the wild-card race.
