Wendelstein 7-X Produces First Hydrogen Plasma

German scientists on Wednesday, with a ceremonial assist from Chancellor Angela Merkel, produced hydrogen plasma for the first time using the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, the largest device of its kind, taking a significant step forward in early testing of the more than $1.3 billion machine that took 20 years to build.(read more)
