Jets, Byfuglien agree to 5-year, $38M contract extension
The Winnipeg Jets and Dustin Byfuglien agreed to terms on a five-year, $38-million contract extension, the club announced Monday.

The 30-year-old defenseman was a pending unrestricted free agent, and he's in the final season of a five-year, $26-million deal.
Byfuglien, 30, will have the third-highest salary cap hit among defencemen behind only P.K. Subban and Shea Weber.

In 52 games for the Jets this season, he's scored 15 goals and added 17 assists, ranking fourth on the team in total points and 13th among all NHL defensemen.
Over six years with the organization, he's averaging 0.69 points per game.
Jets captain Andrew Ladd will be a UFA this summer, and defenseman Jacob Trouba is scheduled to sign a new deal as a restricted free agent.
