Third time's the charm.

The Chicago Blackhawks paid a scheduled visit to the White House on Thursday, meeting President Barack Obama to celebrate their third Stanley Cup championship in the last six years.

The president honored his hometown team, which in turn presented him with several gifts, including a lifetime parking pass for Chicago's United Center.

Obama joked he might look to flip it in an online auction.

The president lauded backup goaltender Scott Darling's charitable act and joked, about head coach Joel Quenneville, that the secret to winning a title is growing out a moustache.

Obama praised the trophy and revealed he had another gift in mind.

"The Stanley Cup is the best trophy on sports," Obama said. "I was hoping this time they'd give me a day with it."

He did get a couple other gifts, though.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman didn't attend, much to the chagrin of those expecting another bizarre choice of footwear.
