Burns sets Sharks' single-season record for most goals by a defenseman
Move over, Sandis Ozolinsh.
Brent Burns scored his 27th goal of the season Monday against the Los Angeles Kings, and he's now in the San Jose Sharks' record books. The goal eclipsed Ozolinsh's 26 in 1993-94, giving Burns the record for most goals in a single season by a Sharks defenseman.

Burns is having a career year. His 27 goals are a career high (he leads all defensemen in the NHL in the category, as well), and at 41 assists, he's two away from tying his career high in the helpers category. His 68 points are the most he's ever recorded, and he's playing more than ever, 26 minutes a game.
The 31-year-old is third on the Sharks in scoring and should receive Norris Trophy consideration upon the conclusion of the season.
