A Visual Effects Breakdown of The Force Awakens Scene Where Rey & Finn Escape Jakku in the Millennium Falcon

Art of the Film has created a wonderful visual effects breakdown of the intense scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens where Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) run for their lives and escape Jakku in the Millennium Falcon.

The sequence was captured on the IMAX format, shooting in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Practical effects were used where possible, including explosions. Once the Falcon takes flight and is pursued by TIE fighters, the vast majority of the sequence was achieved using CGI.
