Update: Comment Deadline Announced for Proposed Revisions to EAS Operating Handbook
Less than a week ago we reported that the FCC has invited comments on a draft revision of its EAS Operating Handbook proposed by the Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC). We mentioned that the comment period would be short - 15 days from Federal Register publication - which suggested that the FCC wants to get this revision wrapped up lickety-split. Sure enough, that Federal Registration publication has now occurred, a mere six days after the notice was first released by the Commission. While that's probably not the fastest that the FCC has managed to get one of its notices into the Register, it's still an impressive display of the speed the Commission can muster when it wants to.
In any event, with the Federal Registration publication officially in the books, we now know the deadline for comments: July 20, 2016. Presumably in keeping with the hustle-hustle approach here, no opportunity for reply comments is indicated, so if you've got something to say, say it by July 20 or be prepared to forever hold your peace. You can submit your comments at this FCC website; enter Proceeding Number 15-94.
