Edelman returns to Patriots practice 1 day after injury scare
Crisis averted.
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was back on the practice field Wednesday following an injury scare involving his lower left leg the day prior.
Edelman had been forced to the sidelines during Tuesday's team session, throwing his helmet in frustration before sitting on a cart to be evaluated by the training staff.
Given that he'd only returned from the physically unable to perform list two days before hand, some concern immediately set in regarding the wideout's twice surgically-repaired foot.
A quick return confirms follow-up reports from Tuesday that Edelman's setback was indeed minor.
The Patriots will remain cautious with their top receiver for the rest of training camp and preseason, but the 30-year-old should still be on track for a full workload in Week 1.
Edelman racked up 61 receptions for 692 yards and seven touchdowns in just nine regular-season starts prior to injury last year. Long having earned recognition as one of the NFL's premier route-runners at the short and intermediate levels of the field, he remains an integral piece of New England's quick-hit passing game.
