It appears Brandon Davidson's ailment is no minor issue.

Edmonton Oilers head coach Todd MacLellan spoke to reporters on Thursday where he noted Davidson will be out "a while" with an injury he would only classify as an "upper-body" ailment.

Davidson left Wednesday's season opener after being hit by Calgary Flames rookie Matthew Tkachuk. Davidson didn't return for the third period.

In a corresponding move, the club recalled newly signed defenseman Eric Gryba from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.

MacLellan also noted that defenseman Adam Larsson's absence from practice on Thursday was strictly for maintenance reasons.
