Belgian artist and filmmaker Vincent Bal has created "Shadowology", a humorously ingenious series in which he illustrates the shadows that are cast by common household items that are lit by the sun from different angles. According to Bal, these are "crazy images drawn by the sun (and me)". Prints and postcards of Bal's work are available for purchase through his Etsy store.
It all started with the shadow of a teacup. Now I can't help seeing things in shadows and everyday objects. I'm a filmmaker who always liked to draw. lately I started drawing silly doodles involving shadows and objects. When I make a film it takes three years at least from idea to audience. Here it takes two minutes. Nice.
