Marc-Andre Fleury's Saturday night could have been a whole lot worse.

The Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender was forced to leave the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after James van Riemsdyk inadvertently caught him with a skate to the neck in the first period.

Matt Murray replaced Fleury while he went off for repairs, and the veteran returned several minutes later.

Fleury had a similarly scary moment in the preseason, when he was grazed in the throat by a skate worn by Detroit Red Wings forward Matt Lorito.

After Saturday's game, Fleury said he was told he was lucky the skate cut his chin and didn't slice his jugular, adding that it took five stitches to seal up the cut, according to Postmedia's Lance Hornby.
