Police and crime commissioner says former deputy PM's criticism of tree-felling programme is nonsense
South Yorkshire's police and crime commissioner has accused Nick Clegg of using irresponsible, emotional and exaggerated language in his opposition to Sheffield city council's controversial tree-felling programme.
The long-running battle over Sheffield's trees attracted national media attention last month when two women in their 70s were arrested for trying to prevent trees on their road from being chopped down, after they were woken at 5am to move their cars.
