Free-Market Environmentalism Is Literally for the Birds

Droughts along the western United States are causing crucial wetlands to dry up, to the detriment of thousands of birds. So in 2014, the Nature Conservancy came up with a solution: pay farmers to flood their fields, creating pop-up wetlands. Thanks to markets, the farmers win and the birds win.
