Report: Kings activate Greene off IR for purpose of buyout

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Greene has been activated off injured reserve for the purpose of a buyout, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reported Tuesday.
Greene was placed on injured reserve in late January after suffering a back injury. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, players who are injured can't be bought out.
He has one year remaining on his current four-year, $10-million deal and is owed $2.5 million next season.
According to Cap Friendly, if the Kings buy out Greene, they'd owe the 34-year-old $833,333 in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
