Governments Don't Give People Rights

Rights pre-exist government. Even if government is necessary to help to secure individuals' rights, government did not create the rights that it was created to help secure. Your real-estate agent might be necessary to sell your home, but this fact does not thereby make her the source of your home's value or the owner of your home.
