Report: Giants' Beckham to have laser treatment on ankle

Odell Beckham Jr. will undergo the first in a series of laser therapy treatments on his injured ankle Friday, reports Gil Brandt of NFL.com.

The procedure will take place in Phoenix, Ariz., and is similar to the one former player Jared Allen underwent in 2016 prior to Super Bowl 50.

Despite missing the NFC Championship that year with a broken foot, Allen was able to suit up for the Super Bowl after the procedure.

It was reported this week that Beckham could miss the New York Giants' regular-season opener after sustaining the ankle injury on a low hit in Monday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants will hope the treatments work similar wonders on Beckham, as he's slated to be the focal point of the team's offense this season, per usual.
