Is the Electric Car Killing the Gas Engine?

Mark Twain is reported to have once said, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." So also are reports of the demise of the internal combustion engine. Without generous federal and state subsidies and California's extreme emission standards, their future of electric cars would be dim at best.
