Gronkowski 'excited' for NFL's new celebration rules
Could Rob Gronkowski eschew his iconic Gronk spike in favor of a new celebration in the light of the NFL's softened new rules?
The fun-loving New England Patriots tight end said Tuesday on "PFT Live" he has nothing planned (yeah, right), but he's pumped about the league's decision to allow its players more creative freedom with celebrations.
"I have nothing planned, I really never thought about it, but I think the rule's great," Gronkowski said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "I think it gives the fans what they want to see. Already through the preseason you see many, many celebrations that are cool to see, with many teams and many players. So I'm excited for it, excited to see what people got, and excited for the fans to see what they want to see, some extra celebrations in the end zone."
While Gronkowski saw time in preseason, he hasn't played a competitive game since the end of November due to a back injury.
With all that time on the sidelines, don't be surprised if Gronkowski is eager to test the new rules early during the Patriots' season opener Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
