Jaguars to stay in Houston postgame to avoid Hurricane Irma in Florida
Hurricane Irma has altered the Jacksonville Jaguars' plans.
The team will stay in Houston following Sunday's game against the Texans in order to avoid the storm projected to reach Florida.
"In consideration for the safety of our players, coaches and staff, the Jacksonville Jaguars will remain in Houston following Sunday's game and weill re-evaluate travel options on Monday morning," the team stated in a release. "We will be thinking of those in our city and throughout Florida and the southeast who will be affected, as well as the first responders who will be working through this storm. We look forward to returning to Jacksonville as soon as possible."
Hurricane Irma is currently a Category 4 storm and is projected to reach Florida by the weekend. Florida governor Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency.
The storm has already forced the postponement of the Miami Dolphins' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that was scheduled to be played Sunday in Miami. It will now be played Week 11.
