Chiefs' Berry out for season with ruptured Achilles tendon
Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the 2017 season, head coach Andy Reid said, according to BJ Kissel from Chiefs.com.
Berry missed much of the 2014 season after being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.
He battled back from the cancer diagnosis to be named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth and fifth times and make his second and third All-Pro teams in 2015 and 2016. He shared the league lead with two defensive touchdowns last season, his second time accomplishing the feat.
Berry signed a six-year, $78-million contract in February. He'll turn 29 years old in December.
Daniel Sorensen is listed as Berry's backup at strong safety on the team's official depth chart.
