Report: Patriots working out QBs Barkley, McGloin, Fales, Lewis
The New England Patriots are in the market for Jacoby Brissett's replacement.
The Patriots worked out free-agent quarterbacks Matt Barkley, Matt McGloin, and David Fales on Friday, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
Earlier in the day, quarterback Thad Lewis also drew a workout, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.
Last week, the Patriots traded Brissett, their No. 3 quarterback, to the Indianapolis Colts for receiver Phillip Dorsett.
The Patriots have often operated with just two quarterbacks on their roster.
All four quarterbacks brought in for a tryout were cut on Saturday's roster cutdown day.
Barkley, a four-year veteran with six career starts, was cut by the San Francisco 49ers. McGloin, also with four years of experience and seven starts, was a final cut by the Philadelphia Eagles. Fales, a three-year pro with an appearance in one career game, was cut from the Miami Dolphins. Lewis, who hasn't thrown a pass since 2013, was let go by the Baltimore Ravens.
