Well, that didn't take long.

The Houston Texans benched Tom Savage after a terrible first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars, in which the offense put up zero points and under 50 yards of offense, and replaced him with rookie Deshaun Watson.

Savage was helpless at times Sunday as the Texans' offensive line gave little protection to the journeyman quarterback, allowing six first-half sacks.

However, Savage's lack of mobility was a significant factor, and Watson may be better suited to dealing with consistent pressure from Jacksonville's front seven.

Savage beat out Watson for the starting job fairly easily in camp, though many attributed that to Texans head coach Bill O'Brien's complex scheme and preference for an experienced quarterback.
