Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy joined the chorus of executives that have condemned President Donald Trump for his comments regarding players protesting during the national anthem.

Trump suggested NFL owners should fire players who protest during the anthem, and criticized the league for its declining ratings and less physical play. He followed up his remarks by rescinding an offer to visit the White House - which was never presented - from Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Here's Murphy's statement, obtained by ESPN's Rob Demovsky:

It's unfortunate that the President decided to use his immense platform to make divisive and offensive statements about our players and the NFL. We strongly believe that players are leaders in our communities and positive influences. They have achieved their positions through tremendous work and dedication and should be celebrated for their success and positive impact. We believe it is important to support any of our players who choose to peacefully express themselves with the hope of change for good. As Americans, we are fortunate to be able to speak openly and freely.

The New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and San Francisco 49ers have all released statements criticizing Trump.
