Brees disagrees with Trump: Comments 'unbecoming to the office'
Drew Brees has always been linked to a potential political career after football by fans, and he was not afraid to address the recent comments from President Donald Trump.
The New Orleans Saints' quarterback disagreed with Trump saying NFL players who protest during the national anthem should be fired.
"I disagree with what the President said and how he said it," said Brees, according to Joel A. Erickson of The Advocate, following Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. "I thought it was unbecoming of the office."
Saints' head coach Sean Payton echoed similar comments, stating: "We need a little more wisdom from that office."
Several Saints players - including Adrian Peterson, Cameron Jordan, and Brandon Coleman - elected to sit out the national anthem. Brees did say that, while he disagrees with Trump, he does not support protesting during the anthem.
