Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has a fracture in his leg just below his knee, head coach Pete Carroll revealed on ESPN 710 on Monday morning. Carson suffered the injury Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

"He's going to be out," Carroll said.

The rookie runner was carted to the locker room late in Sunday's game with an air cast on his left leg. After the game, Carroll said the injury was "significant."

In a crowded Seahawks backfield, the seventh-round pick had grabbed hold of the starting job since vaulting to the top of the depth chart with a 20-carry, 93-yard, and one-touchdown performance in Week 2.

With Carson out, Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, C.J. Prosise, and J.D. McKissic will grapple for the lead-back role. McKissic took four carries for 38 yards and a score against the Colts, while Lacy garnered 11 rushes for 52 yards. Rawls and Prosise have been hampered by injuries.
