Jerry Jones on Elliott ruling: 'Zeke did not get treated fairly'
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has voiced his thoughts on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling to uphold the six-game suspension handed to running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Unsurprisingly, he's not a fan of the decision.
"I'm very familiar with all of the facts and the details of this case. Very familiar," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, according to Todd Archer of ESPN, "Zeke did not get treated fairly here."
The suspension will begin following the Cowboys' Week 6 bye, with Elliott's return not allowed prior to Nov. 30, barring possible further appeals.
"We are currently exploring all of our legal options and will make a decision as to what is the best course of action in the next few days,'' Elliott's attorney Frank Salzano said.
Jones acknowledges that while NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has the power to suspend players, he's not at all in agreement with the process that led to the ban of his marquee player.
"The question was ultimately going to be does he have to follow in practice a fair way, and Zeke and his team and the Cowboys do not think that it was done in a fair way. We are trying to get that looked at, and we got a setback (Thursday)."
