Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will undergo surgery to repair a broken arm, and will be sidelined for eight weeks, head coach Bruce Arians announced Sunday.

Palmer suffered the injury to his non-throwing arm in the Cardinals' 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 37-year-old came into action Sunday completing nearly 62 percent of his passes for 1,856 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions. He went 10-of-18 for 122 yards with a pick before exiting versus the Rams.

With Palmer on the shelf, Arizona will forge on with Drew Stanton as its starting quarterback, Arians said.

The Cards are headed into their bye week, and will take a 3-4 record into a Nov. 5 meeting with the San Francisco 49ers.
