Chicago Bears linebacker Jerrell Freeman has been suspended 10 games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

While Freeman is on the Bears' Reserve/Injured list, he'll begin serving the suspension immediately, which will run over the next 10 regular-season and/or postseason games.

With the Bears owning a 3-5 record, the suspension is likely to last through Week 2 of next season.

The 31-year-old will enter the final season of a three-year, $12-million contract in 2018.
